I ordered two EJ89 clones from Ali for something like 24$, one is going to a friend. They got some pretty nice safety razors, heads and handles for dirt cheap on Ali, it took them some time to get in the game but the reviews are generally very positive
I saw this on Ebay and the seller accepted my offer ...... One site says the dimensions are very nearly the same as a Simpson's Chubby #3 ..... I'll see.
Classsy and unique brush there, Keith. Do you have a way to redo printed lettering on pcs like that? Or a good way to protect and preserve what lettering is there? I've passed on so many printed, not recessed, lettered brushes for either too much existing letter wear or fear that the rest will wear off quickly.
Last night I won on eBay 2 vintage razors. 1: a 1970 Gillette gold plated Black Beauty and 2: a Kewtie “ladies” razor with Kewitie blades and case for a winning bid of $46. I bid on this solely for the gold plated Black Beauty. Funny thing is the seller didn’t even mention the gold plating but in all the photos you can clearly see it’s gold plated.
I have an idea to reproduce it but I may need help on that from @MrEE Either way it's not the lettering that makes a great brush.
Actually, I owned a tub of the Yardley Black Label (funnily enough, it was in a gorgeous, faux-wood container). And I had a bottle of the AS. We were moving a few years ago and I cleared the den of some now sorely-missed items and those two were amongst the sold. I haven't been actively searching for the soap, as it's truly one of the real unicorns and rightfully bears the moniker "unobtanium". Glad to have it back and NOS, to boot! It's one of the all-time great shave soaps. The scent is what I used to refer to as: "What I would wear to the opera or to the White House".
