  1. Burt Lancaster would be proud, Charlie!
  2. awesome shave and pic Clint. i love your dedication to the rocky mountain..;)
  3. Awesome shave, Clint! I will be doing the same with Stirling Piacenza. I believe that I have just 5 or six more shaves before it disappears.
  4. Thank you Gary. I wouldn't call it dedication as much as I just want the stuff done and dusted. :)
  5. Thank you Joe. When I get close to the end of a soap or cream, I just want it to be gone.
  6. hence the wink..:)
  7. thinking ,i am going to do some aristocrat shaves for the rest of the month as #4 may be showing up soon.then my favorite month, OCtober..:)
  8. Keep trundling Gary...always a pleasure to chat with you, although the avatar keeps changing :).
  9. Y'know, since joining TSD, I've discovered that "dirt" isn't such a bad ingredient for a shave soap.

  15. Same here. I will use an electric razor occasionally, and the pre-shave is a must. I've never used the Andis, but I bet it is a good one. I see a lot of barbers using them. I have a Braun, but I used Norelcos for years. And actually, I rest better if I get a nice shave before bed.

It's nice to have shave options.

  17. A&E do tend to process orders slowly. Even more so when they are out of town. If you decide to try a lot of their stuff, I found the club membership to be worth it for the costs savings but you have to tolerate the slow shipping. Plus with a membership you get the new stuff first.
  18. :)
  19. he's a gent who lives by his own rules and standards..:)
  20. Same here. This whole thing has evoked such a wide range of emotions. Sadly, it can bring out the worst in us. It's fairly clear in my house. We have a special situation and have no choice but to take precautions.

As I see it, everything in life carries some level of risk. I view COVID-19 as another risk - and one that we don't fully understand. I worked in an industry that managed risk by assessing risks and applying "layers of protection" until the risk was deemed acceptable. The definition of "acceptable" changed over the years. Occasionally, we revisited risks and protections we had put in place to see if they were effective or if changes were needed.

While the precautions (layers of protection) against COVID-19 infection are based in science, none of them are 100% effective by themselves. The more layers I can apply, the more the risk is reduced.

If we need to to take a trip, for example, this is how I think. It's sort of automatic. And, yes, I know I am demented...

I first decide if a trip is essential. If so, can it be delayed, combined with another essential trip, or can the duration be shortened? (In my world, visiting friends is essential for mental health.)
Can I go at an off-time?
Can I avoid entering an enclosed building?

If I have to get out of my car and go inside a building...
Am I wearing my mask properly?

    Also...
Am I able to observe proper social distancing? (This one can be tough out in public.)
Can I keep from touching my face?
Am I cleaning my hands properly afterward and before removing my mask?

    When I get home...
Does anything I'm bringing home need to be cleaned? That might include changing my clothes or showering if I've been rolling around on medical equipment in doctor's offices.

Anyway, that's just my way of thinking. Everybody will see it differently. :)
