English can be a confusing language at times. I've enjoyed a couple shows on Netflix that were Finnish productions. I watched a few minutes with the original Finnish audio and English subtitles, but decided to watch them with the English audio dubbing though. Concerning Vienna Sausages, the pronunciation is often just a debate between people I know. Some pronounce it like the city in Austria. Others pronounce it as I learned growing up in a small town in Alabama - VYE-EENA.
In case anyone is interested, Amazon is selling Barrister and Mann Reserve Classic aftershave for $11.00 right now. I just bought one. Here is the link: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01MEEPINK/?tag=thshde-20
May i ask what shows did you watch and did you like them? Kind of fun fact; pretty much nothing here is dubbed, subtitles are much preferred and they actually help people to learn languages. But when i watch something from netflix i usually turn the subtitles off, unless i'm keeping the volume very low. I would probably pronounce it like the town name, but that's just how i would expect it to be. We don't even have any kind of canned sausages here i think, unless Lidl has some. The finnish makkara is very popular though.
Not in my neck of the woods is Vienna pronounced that way! Lol! The correct way is Vee- en-a. The first syllable is pronounced with a long e. The second and third syllables are pronounced with a short e and short a, respectively.
The two shows are: Bordertown (Sorjonen) Deadwind (Karppi) Both were excellent shows! Actually, season 3 of Bordertown did not have the English audio dubbing available for the Netflix release (they cited Covid work delay for the voice actors), so I did listen to the original audio (with English subtitles). I agree that subtitles can help to learn languages.
Suomen kieli voi olla melkoisen hankalaa niille, jotka puhuvat Englantia äidinkielenään. =The Finnish language can be very difficult for people who speak English as their native language.
Yeah, first time I heard that was when he took me and some cousins camping and fishing on North River. I was about 13 I think.
