Looks like MonoBilt Monday is off to a fine start already. Mine came in a trade with @Linuxguile about 3 years ago. I had it replated by Razorplate a little while afterwards. 36 hrs of growth disappeared very efficiently this morning. Only my lower right neck has me from being completely smooth. A little bit of red in the crease of my chin decided to give up the fight even before the alcohol hit it.
Apparently -based on their snide remarks about something burning in the kitchen- my kids don't like the scent of the splash...their loss. Their mom made no such comments.:)
    Have a great day all!

Wet Shaving Products SS & AS - Mahogany
    J3Customs Kamisori 'Corrosive'
    Simpson Chubby 2 Synthetic
    Zingari Man ASB

Awesome shave this morning...old faithful shaving bowl, a Symmetrical Pottery creation used for nearly every shave when beating a soap into submission. @clint64 's © 'Soap Destroyer' moniker for Simpson's Chubby 2 synthetic is straight on. Hard not to make an incredible lather with it, and combined with WSP's Mahogany Formula T, the slick & creamy goodness was abundant and aromatic. This synthetic knot is slightly stiff for my tastes though, works better for me painting on it's lather created in a bowl, instead of using for a full on face lather.

Been working with Derek at J3Customs on a long term project....here's the latest addition, an 8/8 kamisori he labels as 'Corrosive'. Derek's work is extremely meticulous and detailed. Blade is ground as a quarter hollow out of 01 Tool Steel. Handle is very beefy and square, but artfully wrapped with blue/black leather cord, bamboo accents woven in. Hand ground serrations make for confident holding and maneuvering. No stropping or honing on it's inaugural use, shaved incredible straight out of the packaging. The slightly rounded spike toe so much fun, easily gets into the nose contours/shadows. 2.5 passes, BBS- results, no shenanigans at all.

Rounded out the long self indulgent shave this morning with ZM's after shave balm followed with WSP's aftershave tonic splash, Mahogany. It's simply divine....find myself considering Lee's EdP solid cologne in this fragrance.

Hope everyone has a Magnificent Monday!

    Monobilt Monday

    Razor: Cooper Monobilt
    Blade: Permasharp (2)
Brush: MrEE Silvertip Chubby 2 Clone
    SS & AS: Stirling MITA

Well I love MITA. I love the Monobilt. I love this brush. They're all awesome!

Honestly the main thought this morning was I remember the Monobilt being more aggressive than this. I had to continously ride the cap. The difference of course is me. I'm better at this shaving thing since I used it last. 2 pass DFS shave with calm alum and enough menthol to get the eyes watering.

Happy Monday everyone. Have a great week.

  19. Of course it was smoother- there is no blade in it. All snideness aside, you are right about the Technique part. My PAL Injectomatic taught me the same thing. Over a few years it went from being 'The Meatgrinder' to 'Meh' to me selling it. I kind of wish I had it still, to be honest.
