Finally off the road and was able to use my new Bismarck 2. Gotta admit, it isn’t as good as my TI or GD even. I didn’t hone it, just stropped and shaved since it’s supposed to be honed from Dovo. I’m going to give it another shot next time it’s up in rotation and if it’s still subpar I’m going to hone it and try again. It resulted in a DFS but just wasn’t quite what the other shaves have been like. Speaking of strops, I made one out of 9/11 oz English Bridle. It’s three inches wide and the ends are made from veg tan. It’s custom length to my reach so about 3.5 feet. All hand sewn. Not sure how good it did or not. Looks nice though. I think I’m going to hit it with some neatsfoot oil before next use.
Those Dovo Bismarks Need Taken to the Bevel Hone & Full Progression..They are Not Honed from the Factory..They Hone Up Very Well & Typically Very Easy.. Billy..
Good to know @Billyfergie, I will hop right on it then. It still wasn't bad...well, I've had worse. I hit the road again on Tuesday for the week so I may be able to get a shave in Monday to see how the honing worked out.
