This past week I used several polarizing products and was happy with them all. Arko, Clubman, MWF, Tabac, and The Veg.

  7. Thank you Charlie. To me D OC has more blade feel than the D SB without any improvement in efficiency. I feel the same way about the E SB Plate. I prefer the smoother shave of the D plate or the more efficient F plate.

  15. I have the Sandalwood as well, and find that all the TOBS soaps I've used, used to also have Coconut, leave my skin feeling dry afterwards. One of the reasons I'm a fan of MWF and Nancy Boy is the way my face and noggin feel after the shave. And yes, Charlie, Tabac is one of the soaps in the same category as MWF and Nancy Boy but isn't used much by me because of the scent, which as you know, I'm not a fan of. The other soaps/Creams I like are Baume.be, Castle Forbes Lime and Lavender, Proraso, Bigelow (recycled Proraso), and Haslinger Schafmilch. Only the Castle Forbes has strong scents, but I like them and SWMBO seems to tolerate them.

  16. OCtober 11th

    Razor: Gillette OT
    Blade: Astra Superior Stainless
    Brush: Rubberset 400 #3 (Omegs 10005)
SS & AS: Stirling Sharp Dressed Man

This OT has about 90% of the original gold. The cap needed a little touchup so I plated a slight touchup over the original gold. Other than a large crack its in great shape.

The Rubberset 400 was puchased so I have an example to clone, but of course I am going to use it. It's a fun brush.

I trashed the Permasharp blade and used a fresh Astra SS. Even in an OT the blade gave a smooth and refreshing BBS shave in 3- passes (I just didn't need a full 3rd pass).

  17. Joe, you behave as though you could actually wear away a significant part of the edge in a bevel set. If a bevel is set, I agree that there is no need to reset one. A touch up on my jasper stone generally does the trick for me. I dropped my new Riga razor and chipped the middle of the edge. I was going to send it out to Glen for a new bevel set. Ben had me breadknife the entire edge on a 320k diamond plate and then I reset the edge on his Shapton progression from 1k - 12k and finished on the jasper. I'm glad I listened to him. The razor shaves great. It was originally a hard sharp edge, now it's a soft sharp that's a pleasure to shave with.

  19. Lovely shave, Evan! Your OT looks great in its new plating! The Rubberset is a great brush! I love the original handle. I won an Alpha Shaving rubberset 400 tribute, but the handle is not as hefty as the original. Great kit!

  20. Actually, I did! We both like the Tabac lather, we just can't stomach that awful stench! :D:drool:
