A much neglected software setup today...Cella Almond. Imagine opening a fresh jar of maraschino cherries, and that's spot on for this fragrance. These colors matched so much better in my minds eye....not so much on camera. Oh well, went with it anyway. Light application of the pre shave gel....then an awesome slick lather with Cella's Almond shave cream (which is actually denser consistency than most shave soaps/croaps nowadays). Forgot to include the 24mm Shavemac 2 band badger disco brush in the family photo....it performed very nicely, excellent size and just enough backbone for a great face massage. Fun mix of bowl, face and paint lathering. Today's razor is a Japanese steel J3Customs recently acquired, half bare steel, half laminated. Unfortunately a little off on it's edge for the second shave, even after a round on the CrOX linen then leather strop (maybe I goofed something...). Will put this guy in the small group for a round of the pasted mounted strops routine. Ended up using the 10/8 J3Customs razor I used Fri & yesterday for the 2nd and 3rd passes, it's scaringly sharp, and finished out those 2 passes with no crimson rearing it's head. Very nice DFS+ today. A little of Cella's matching ASB, which is a very thin super slick tan cream. Hefty dose of the matching Cella after shave lotion....wonderful wifey approved aroma, a light almond cherry (sweet) fragrance. Near zero sillage, stays close to skin for 3-4 hours though.

Yeah, just going through the motions putting the razor together. Topcap, blade, then instead of the baseplate like it should have been, I installed the nylon washer then the baseplate. Hopefully a mistake I only make once.

This OT has about 90% of the original gold. The cap needed a little touchup so I plated a slight touchup over the original gold. Other than a large crack its in great shape.

The Rubberset 400 was puchased so I have an example to clone, but of course I am going to use it. It's a fun brush.

I trashed the Permasharp blade and used a fresh Astra SS. Even in an OT the blade gave a smooth and refreshing BBS shave in 3- passes (I just didn't need a full 3rd pass).

You guys are good to comment on my posts even when I don't respond. I appreciate the kind words and encouragement from all of you.

I used an Omega 10005, but its a somewhat short boar knot. I ordered an $8 knot out of china that's suppose to be 75mm. The original Rubberset knot had a pretty high loft. Going to see if it's worth swapping out or just make another brush.

While I am somewhat inexperienced with straights I've only had one edge that really didn't feel smooth. It was an antique store find that needed polishing. While I was working it on the wheel I lightly buffed the edge and finished on an oxide strop. It was sharp but horrible to shave with. I think it was just inconsistent and jagged. I had to put a completely fresh edge on it starting with a 3K stone.

Happy Thanksgiving to all the fellow Canucks out there. I had a nice 2 pass shave before the family Turkey dinner. There are smoother News, but few are better looking. Old Spice gets the Seal of Approval, which is never a bad thing.
A Stat holiday tomorrow, if I don’t shave I’ll put the MonoBilt on Tuesday instead.

Absolutely, I have them all shined up and ready for shaving.

I will mix it up, closed and open comb razors.

I haven't used a comb for many years.

I am a straight razor shaver, you open comb shavers don't know what you're missing.

If I use an open comb razor, will I finally get some cookies?
