175 years ago today the U.S. Naval Academy was established, so had to pull out an appropriate razor... Imperial Army and Navy razor. Match it with some AoS Ocean Kelp, and we have a winner. I did a full tabac yesterday. Shaving oil, soap and as. The le grelot 30 is now sharp enough to cut myself; a small spot on the cheek.
here you go Tom. I’ve never had a “real” strop, only homemade ones but they seem to work just fine. My side hobby is leather working so it seems silly to me to spend the money asked when I can put in the labor with similar materials as the “real” strop makers.
Ugh. I’m struggling. I haven’t tried it on my face so I can’t tell if it’s improved or not. I’ve only honed wedges until now. Nerves coupled with my desire to not wreck my new razor has me doubting everything.
..I Dunno What Stones You are Using..But..I Have Honed Many a Dovo Bismark..I Set the Bevel on a 1 K Naniwa Professional Stone..They Should Shave Arm Hair from the Bevel Hone..Very Easily..They are Probably Better Factory Finished On the Bevel Area than Any Other Production Dovo..Well..In My Experience Anyway.. I think it may be fine. After stropping it was taking arm hair off reeeeally easily. I may give it a go on what little stubble I have just to see. I have the Norton 4K/8k combo and a Naniwa 12k Super.
ok, I’m going for it right now with the above setup! ok, I can hone . The shave turned out pretty great. Nice and close, nearly 100% BBS everywhere except the patch on my neck I never seen to get.
Thank you for noticing and for the compliment Sir! edit: If I had to do it over again I’d make the neck of the handle about a half in wider. I find myself holding up toward the strop to limit twisting. Otherwise I’m quite pleased.
