Thank you Jeff! King Pelican 14 with Floris 80 soap and balm. A Rooney Beehive 2, two-band did the mixing. Lovely shave.
Yes Jess, a bit more than 4/8 and smile. Actually 13mm is 0.51 inches. I'm not sure about how much Tungsten is in there. Not a problem to hone, and the edge is durable. As all good steel I have. And I use just natural stones.

Looks like a nice razor! I like thinner blades, although I’ve never shaved with a 4/8! Being in Europe I would suspect that thuringian and Escher slates are less expensive than they are for us here in the states.
Bang on Jeff..Escher Thuringians in the UK Do Come Up Now & Again for a Decent Price..I Just Sniped this Un Labeled Escher Stone at the Bottom for £31.00 Pounds English..The One I Have at the Top is Labeled on the Back..The Seller on this One I Just Sniped Did Not Know what it Was..But..I Knew Right Away..In the USA they Go for Crazy Money..There was a Lot of Watchers on this One as Well..I Put in a Low Ball Bid An All.. Ya Just Need to Know What You are Looking For..The One at the Top has a 17 K Finishing Capacity No Problem.. ..Another Toy to Play With..Cheap as Chips..Who Cares about a Label..Now the Wait.. Three days of stubble just cried out for the biggest blade in the den. Nothing short of a wonderful shave Hot water preparation Argan Oil PSO Savile Row 3824 Ethos Lisse Collection Lavender W&B 9/8 Ethos Lisse Collection Lavnder Skin Food Happy shaving - Karl
Congratulations, Billy! You're right about US pricing. Off the map! How were you able to recognize it as an Escher slate? Just asking as a newb interested in learning.
Wonderful shave, Karl! Is that the infamous W&B FBU my son's been telling me about? Just looking to build my newb knowledge base.
Just By Owning & Using Them..You Can See in Both Photos they are Very Similar Stones in Color & Grain..Other Thuringian Labels Did Not Produce Em as Small for Starters..Thats a Giveaway..The Color & Fine Grain are a Give Away as Well..Then it Starts to Get Complex as there were Various Colors & Sizes..I Own this Escher Thuringian Above and its a Totally Different Color & Slightly Longer..More Slate Like But Produces a 17 K Edge Easily..These were Specifically Intended for Razors.. Some of the Bigger Escher Stones that Ya See were Intended for Tool Makers & Tradesmen & that was Actually their Biggest Market..I Dunno How Fine they are as Never Used One..My Understanding is that the Finest/Smoothest Ones were Cut Specifically for Honing Straight Razors..But.. Experience of Handling Em & a Good Eye & Intuition Goes a Long Way..Thats Why that Stone I Just Got had 20 Odd Watchers on it.. Hey..I Could Be Wrong..It Might be Summit Else..There is Always an Element of Chance..When they are Not Labeled..But..I Am 99/% Confident thats an Escher Produced Stone..I Will Know for Sure when I Get it.. Billy..
Indeed it is. The mirror finish makes it hard to pick up the stamped ID on the blade. Here’s a better look:
