Not shave related but we got dad's old log splitter running. It has not been run in about 8 months. Dad built this splitter in the mid seventies. Specs are below.

    Two cylinder Wisconsin engine.
    Motorgrader lift cylinder.
John Deere 350B dozer hydraulic pump.
John Deere 450B hydraulic tank with control valve. Blade is off of a tree shear. 1936 Chevy car front axle with the king pins welded up. Axle was out front under the car that him and mom dated in.

I have seen a lot of homemade log splitters but I have never seen one that would keep up with this one.

If dad was still with us he would be sitting on the tank and pushing that lever. He loved his firewood!

Catching up....288 posts behind today and read. Lots of Like buttons hit. Today was all kinds of busy with work and family stuff.

Playing with grandkids (and a cool daschie), new grandkids on the way, great shaves, reports, images, neat metal and Halloween props...and more. One very cool log splitter, wow. :)

Thanks for all the kind thoughts and comments today gentlemen!

After hearing many of my US friends on here speak of Four Roses Bourbon, lo and behold, look what was in my provincial liquor store today:

I realize this isn’t the small batch that Jeff, Charlie and Clint have spoken of, but beggars can’t be choosers.

It’s still fine bourbon, Jason! It and Makers are my preferred bourbons for my Manhattans.

SOTD FRIDAY MORNING, OCTOBER 16, 2020

This morning’s shave was uninterrupted by the two little hooligans from yesterday - my gyoungest grandson, Nate, and his running buddy when visiting, my dachshund, Gromit. Old G-Pop‘s been outsmarting grandchildren for almost two decades. I simply kept the little bugger up way past his usual bedtime last night watching Toy Story until he fell asleep. For this morning’s shave, I selected the Genco 35, the second straight I ever shaved with. A run on the pasted and leather strops last night ensured a smooth and comfortable three pass (WTG, ATG, XTG) shave this morning. I made sure to play this morning’s shave music - Bach’s Toccata and Fugue in D Minor - through my hearing aids so as to not push my luck and have my shave interrupted like yesterday. JR’s #343 brush whipped up a pleasantly cooling lather. My long-neglected MMOC delivered a spectacular two pass (ATG, ATG) dome shave. I feel cool, clean and velveteen!

RAZOR: Genco 35 5/8 (Mug), Gem MMOC (Dome)
    BLADE: PTFE Coated Gem
PREP: Cold water rinse followed by Argan Oil
    BRUSH: JR #343 Synthetic
    SOAP: Fine Accoutrements Snake Bite
POSTSHAVE: Cold water wash with Glyce Glycerin soap followed by Humphreys Lilac WH. Finished with Fine Accoutrements Snake Bite.

Excellent combination pairing of soap and splash. The blade, on it’s 4th shave, did a fair it of tugging.
Overall, it was still a very nice shave.

    Enjoy the day folks.
