SOTD MONDAY MORNING, OCTOBER 19, 2020

I’m really enjoying my shaves with these early 19th century Sheffield razors. Setting the bevel on this wavy Frederick Reynolds 5/8 was a challenge, but the two pass mug (WTG, ATG) shave this morning was well worth it. The buttery smooth edge made short work of my 24 hour stubble. I realize given the closeness of these shaves that I could easily get away with shaving every other day, but I just enjoy the process too much. My Ever Ready Streamline took care of my dome shave leaving me with the expected velveteen smoothness I’ve come to treasure in the mornings. I feel refreshed, limey-clean and velveteen!

RAZOR: Frederick Reynolds 5/8 (Mug), Ever Ready Streamline (Dome)
    BLADE: Pella PTFE Coated Gem
PREP: Cold water rinse followed by Argan Oil
    BRUSH: JR #372 Boar
    CREAM: Castle Forbes Lime
POSTSHAVE: Cold water wash with Glyce Glycerin soap followed by Humphreys Lilac WH. Finished with Royall Lyme AS Splash/Cologne

Got a new knot into the den on Friday. I brought in a couple more APShaveCo knots and ordered one of their Gelousy SHD bulb knots. I suspect that it is the same as the Maggards SHD gelled knot and also suspect that they are both Oumo knots. This Cypress handle was one that I made for the first 30DC LE in '17, but was a little thinner on the base with an transition edge that wasn't sloped enough. Basically, I didn't think it matched enough. Kept it as a stand alone. I had another Cypress one that ended up with Screwtape as well for the same reason. The wood came from RyX in Louisiana. I had a WD HMBadger in it originally, but yanked it out at least a year ago. One defunking lather yesterday and then straight to it today.
It was a very nice 3 pass shave. A tiny bit on my lower neck, but that is being really picky. One problem, though- there is a hairline crack in the top of the handle. That never happens with regular use, so I'm thinking it happened when I pulled the old knot out. Oh well, I know where I can get another one...
The Eau Sauvage is a fave, but I think it works best in the warmer months so it may get put away for a bit.
    Have a great day all!
