  1. Nice post, Sensei. I cannot imagine that Bay Rum, liberally applied, would ever offend anyone.

  3. Hi all!
Using the Devette and a new Feather blade.
I tried a new shaving cream.
    20201021_211331.jpg
Van Der Hagan Whipped Shave Cream.
I started with trying to get it to lather and was impossible in a mug, it just disappeared.
So I decided that I was using it incorrectly.
I took a glob of it on my fingers and smeared it on my face.
It's very slick and then sticky, can it be both??
So sticky that I had a difficult time washing it off my fingers and so slick I couldn't hold the razor to shave.
Dawn dish soap took it off so I could hold the razor.
The first pass using this stuff was ok, just ok.
I found it so sticky it was difficult rinsing it off the razor.
I used the brush to apply it for the 2cd pass.
    Not much better.
Adding water didn't seem to help.
Washing it out of the brush was a challenge too.
A liberal application of dawn soap helped clean it up.
    I stopped....
I lathered up some Tobac and shaved the gord.
Now the VDH soap has a nice scent, like tobacco, but it's more a kin to lithium grease than shaving, uh ...cream.
Guess I'll just have to figure out how to use the stuff before I try shaving with it again.
Any advice on using this white grease is welcome.

    The razor....
All I can say is that I am surprised, appreciative, and humbled to own such a tool!
    Tom @twhite and Joseph @Primotenore .
Two gentlemen if there ever was.
    Thanks!
    Enjoy!

  7. Thanks Maestro! A year and a half ago, I was in the teacher's lounge. With an unpleasant look, a young female teacher commented that something smells like medicine. I commented it must be my aftershave. It was the Bay Rum.

  11. You had an interesting shave Terry. I have used the VDH soap and never had a problem with it. However, I didn't know they made a shave cream so I never used it. My guess would be to wet your face with plenty of water and load the brush with double the amount than you normally use with a shave cream. Lather your face in the usual way and hopefully that will do the trick. I surmise that you didn't have enough cream on the brush. I could be wrong, but I also could be right.

  13. Terry,
It pleases me to no end how happy you are with this razor. It was my pleasure to receive it from @twhite and it was doubly my pleasure to see that it stayed in your hands. Enjoy it and I hope you have many, many years of pleasurable shaves with the De-Vette.
