Oh the sun is out now and a beautiful day. Large sections of the city are still without power. All the trees and high winds don’t play well together.

We had power at the client site. My office is still without power. The local schools closed today due to power outages. Just so the announcement that most are closed tomorrow.

    October 29

    Trac II handle
Personna Twin II Plus cartridge (4)
    30 DC LE brush
    Mike's Natural Soaps Hungarian Lavender
    Alum
    Thayers Unscented Witch Hazel
    Unrefined Shea Butter
    Almond Oil
Jeeves of Hudson Street Blood on Steel

This was the fourth shave of my Trac II focus. The shaves improved dramatically once I dialed in the correct blade angle. It took a couple of shaves to get there. Due to the narrow sweet spot of the razor head and the relatively long handle, it seems that I have to "exaggerate" the angle to get it right. Once I feel the blade cutting, I use just a bit of pressure and then - Shazam! - I get my usual near-BBS shaves in 2+ passes. It's a gentle shaver, and I'd have to work hard to draw blood with it. Surprisingly, I find that using my $5 plastic Trac II handle is more intuitive than this handle.

My artisan-made 30DC LE brush, although imperfect when viewed at 1000X magnification, performed flawlessly for this old redneck moonshiner. You can't tell from the photo, and I don't like to brag, but my understanding is that this is handle no. 001 in the LE series.

As you can also see from the photo, my focus gear has begun to look a bit war torn. The Mike's soap is about half gone, and I'm days away from finishing up the BoS aftershave. I've enjoyed using both products. The Hungarian Lavender scent of the soap "reignited" once I began using the puck routinely, and the aftershave scent has mellowed with continued use. The Mike's HL soap is definitely on the list for repurchase.

I tossed the cartridge after the fourth shave. Realizing I had only ~31 Trac II cartridges, I became justifiably alarmed and promptly ordered 120 more. I got free shipping (@jluc inspiration) and a free container of Taconic Excalibur Solid Cologne that will be a nice addition to my travel kit.

Enjoy your shaves, gents. Grace and Peace.

Can't a guy eat a little slice of humble pie every now and then?
Evan is trying to help me with that around some cool labelling/signature ideas. Stay tuned.

Speaking of brushes, I saw advertisements yesterday for this brushmaker:
    https://www.rivashaving.it/
Does anyone have any of their products? He is doing some things similarly to Romera, or Rodney Neep and with some of the same design ideas that I've played around with as well. His work looks exquisite.

Those brushes are truly stunning. I love the mixture of materials. Look at El Druida shave brushes for ideas as well. I really like the wood paired with metal or resin. I also, like the wood inside the resin as well.
