I imagine it will be January or so before I have the lathe completely setup. I am looking forward to giving it a try
Thank you Jeff. I hope to have it dialed in over the next couple of weeks. I would like to spend some time with my new Wolfman WR2 this month.
Charlie @wristwatchb and I should have showed up. There would have been no candy left for the neighborhood kids.
That’s true, Joe, but in all fairness to Slash, it was a danged good edge. Hopefully, he’ll be ok with my softening it up on my jasper. I’m going to include the Gold Dollar in my Secret Santa exchange this year. Someone’s going to get a straight with a great edge.

The month of one of my favorite holidays growing up, “National Get Fat Day”. This is especially true on an Italian household. It is not your traditional Thanksgiving. Yes, there was the traditional part surrounded by the Italian multiple courses. Today’s shave is a continuation of part of my goal to sink this soap, hopefully by the end of November. I had another wonderful shave, three passes of smooth ecstasy. Love the shaving time where no one interrupts the process. End result = the missus loves the smoothness. Happy Sunday gentlemen.
Lol! Thanks Jeff! I am grateful that I was able to shave with it and humbled by everyone's prayers for my recovery.
NOVember Focus For No-variation November, I am going use my Detroit National Straight razor daily. We'll see how many shaves I can get before having to refresh the blade. I will only strop. Software, while technically is a no-variation, will have lots of variation. ALL BAY RUM SOAPS AND SCENTS for the month. Here is a picture of the participants: Now, you all may be wondering, why only two Bay Rums soaps? Good question and, as you might have already guessed, I have a good answer. Finding a nice Bay Rum scent is easy. Finding a nice Bay Rum scent AND a good soap base...not as easy. For instance. Mystic Water: Love the soap...hate the scent. Ogallala: Love the scent...hate the soap. Turtleship Shave Co.: Love the soap...hate the scent. Here's a REAL kicker: Dominica Shave Soap (yes, the same company as the revered aftershave): Adored the scent...WORST shave soap ever. I am sure there are others, but for my particular tastes, Mike's and Barrister & Mann are the best. Today, I chose Mike's and the C.O. Bigelow. For those unfamiliar with the Bigelow, it is a zero-clove scent. Warm, smooth and pleasing. The Mike's lathered wonderfully with the Rooney. Excellent three-pass shave with the National. Let all get some great shaves and share something new that you may learn/discover. vis-à-vis shaving technique.
Good morning, gents, and welcome to November! I'm in this month with my Trac II for awhile and then I'll be... I finished up my Jeeves of Hudson Street Blood on Steel aftershave yesterday. I enjoyed both the scent and the mild menthol hit. I'm currently working through a bottle of Captain's Choice Bay Rum aftershave. Since I shaved last night before bed, I waited to apply some this morning. It is definitely a change of pace, but it will work fine during cooler weather. We just got home from our daily walk. It is sunny, but the wind is blowing, and the temp will steadily fall throughout the day. A second pot of coffee was therefore brewed. To acclimate myself to the cooler temps, I plan to have some ice cream today. I hope you all have a fantastic Sunday.
