What a nice shave for me this morning! Same products as yesterday, but a Stoylin brush. 25 seconds to load, then healthy sweeping motions over the face and neck. Zero cuts&Knicks this time . Very careful and slow along Porcupine Alley especially the edges. Same along the jawline at the "North Pole Of Cactus Nation". 2 passes. I still haven't decided which combination to use for my "All Week" shave, but the Phoenix Bay Rum has become a candidate for the shave soap. Clubman Special Reserve for the closer. Top Of The World Excellent.
SOTD TUESDAY MORNING, NOVEMBER 3, 2020 While not a fan of DE shavettes, I do love this Feather DX. I never fail to get an excellent shave with it. I also own a Feather SS, but don’t like it because of its blade-holding design. It also shaves well, but because of the pronounced lip holding the blade, it doesn’t shave like a true straight angle-wise. I find that my technique with the DX is virtually identical to using a regular straight. The Rex Ambassador also shaves beautifully, particularly wide open and riding the cap. Both mug and dome shaves were superb this election-day morning. The Nancy Boy Signature Cream and Cooling Gel topped off a spectacular shave. I feel cool, velveteen smooth, refreshed and ready for the day. RAZOR: Feather DX (Mug), Rex Ambassador (Dome) BLADE: Feather AC (Mug), Feather DE (Dome) PREP: Cold water rinse followed by a scrub with Argan Oil BRUSH: RazoRock Badger CREAM: Nancy Boy Signature POSTSHAVE: Cold water wash with Glyce Glycerin soap followed by Humphreys Lilac WH. Finished with Nancy Boy Signature Cooling Gel.
NOVember Barrister and Mann~~Thäter~~Detroit National Cut. Co.~~Ogallala Three days into NOVember, my rule is still intact, as is my focus. Today I used the B&M once again and employed a just-received Thäter brush. Here are a few glamor shots of the new brush: My friend, Georg, from TSN has been a master-enabler as of late. Still, this Thäter knot is exquisite and the Faux Horn has some beautiful colors. The lather, as can be clearly seen in the above picture is ultra-shiny and was quite slick. The National was thoroughly stropped and gave me a wonderful shave. Got hung up under my high jaw and it left a mark. Chalk up another minor battle-scar to the ever-changing straight razor saga. Finished with Ogallala Double-strength Special Reserve Bay Rum. I like it a lot, but I have read reviews from shavers not sharing my opinion. Quite heavy on the clove scale. Dr. Mrs. Primo likes her some clove.
November 3rd ToBS Shaving Cream & Aftershave - Sandalwood Ever Ready 100 restored with synthetic flat top Gillette Old Type Gillette Nacet Thayer's Witch Hazel Today felt like a nostalgic shave day. Been thinking about 'Pops', my grandfather, and this setup absolutely reminds me of the bathroom aroma on Sunday mornings. Most other day's it was a lavender or other 'fresh' scent from my grandmother's potpourri dish. The Gillette Old Type and ER 100 is from the 2020 TSD traveling box. @MrEE's replating work on the OT, not sure who restored the brush (my bad, forgot to ask). Great everything....awesome lather, fun shave. Love the OT design, works very nice in the toughest part of my shaving area, the under nostril shadows/contours. I am lucky with thick stumps of growth in that area, right up to the transition between flat face and nose outlines. Open edges or safeties (with small cap designs) work the best to get after the pesky strays. 2 passes with a neck clean up swath, and BBS- results with one skin blemish weeper on the lower neck. Quick application of Thayer's WH followed by the matching ToBS Sandalwood AS....and ready for a day. Still crazy busy....following along, hitting the like button on SOTD posts, commenting as much I can. A very sincere THANKS for all the comments on my daily start up routines! Have a great Tuesday everyone!
Fantastic shave Paul! May I suggest a new level of shaving greatness. I would call it Out Of This World Excellent!
