Nice shave Andrew! I think it's your water causing the lathering issue. Need to try filtered or bottled water.
Almost all the strops out there are in poor shape. Unfortunately making a new strop is complicated because of how thin the leather has to be. You can do what I did and trim down a Naked Armor strop. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B077YT5M1L/?tag=thshde-20 The Naked Armor strops are thin and cheaply made, but that's not reflected in their price. $30+ is a lot to pay, but they are perfect for making a VAS strop. You just need to remove some rivets and cut the strop down to size. I purchased some tooling leather which is pretty close to the right thickness, but I haven't cut it to shape yet. Cutting it to the exact dimensions can be tricky. I'd recommend using a rotary knife and a mat. Thankfully, my wife already had the tools. This is the leather I purchased, but even this is thicker than the Naked Armor strop. Of course, you can shave a long time on the blades you can buy for the cost of a strop. But that's not as much fun. Edit: Found this too. Says it's the thinnest leather in the industry: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Full-Grain...6c85b3ab3:g:K5YAAOSw-zhdjxcR&var=641541083058
I'm sure I will. The Occam's is a great looking razor but the quality of the Jaws is bumping ATT. I figure Clint also performed a polishing job on the Jaws.
