Leresche no 901, Bic Chrome Platinum, shave 5


Vintage French made razor. The 901 is an unbranded version made by Leresche for third party resellers. Unlike their regular models it is not made to the same specifications being much milder and the open comb teeth rough on the edges. The comb is not very pleasant feeling when shaving but it is not sharp enough to leave scratch marks or break skin. If you use a shallow angle it minimizes the problem but it also minimizes the razors ability to cut hair closely unlike at a steep angle because of how mild it is. End result a BBS finish achieved but it took some work to get there unlike with a standard Leresche.

My first shave with the H2 (OC) plate was barely distinguishable from yesterday’s shave with the H1 (SB) plate -- maybe a little more efficient
without being too aggressive. Again BBS in 2 passes, WTG & ATG.

SE SOTD, Thur, Nov19th,2020

Razor: Valet Auto-strop C1, Canadian variat- MFG 1920's, Modified gap from .011 to .007" Excellent razor with this alteration.
Blade: Gem Personna SS PTFE modified (1) Excellent blade for this oldie Goldie Valet Auto-strop.
Soap: Tabac- mild flowery scent with excellent lather qualities.
Brush: Razorock Noir 400 plissoft with black whiskers- this brush lathers similar to my boar brush with a good scrub and soft tips.
Pre shave: Brush wash whole face with CeraVe hand bar cleanser + a dollop of clear Aloe Vera gel on my cleaned beard area.
Prep: Cold water rinse after each pass of 2 + pickups. WTG + ATG + pickups.
Post shave: Razorock XXX with witch hazel + a dollop of Nivea balm.
Results: CCS,DFS,BBS + no irritation + no weepers = Excellent shave with my Valet Auto-strop C1 Canadian variant.
