That is a long time. My wife moved to Alabama around 83 when her step dads coal mine shut down in Pennsylvania. He went to work in a mine here in the county.
That's interesting Joe. I never did ask my Mom exactly when she lost her New England accent...would have been interesting to know. But you're right-as my Dad grew up in the Midwest, perhaps that's something he "gave" me....his dialect.
