You don't have to apologise Jeff, believe me i have been called a lot worse than Gary by family & friends on numerous occasions.
Great shave, Paul! If you were able to maintain these for six months or so, you might then consider open edge shaves. I was told I would never be able to use a straight razor by the docs, but I figured out a workaround, but only after I was consistently achieving bloodless shaves! Enjoy your day!
Sunday's Shave Eversharp/Schick Hydromagic Schick Blade Omega 11126 Boar JHS 30DC Blood on Steel Shaving Soap Dickinson's Witch Hazel JHS 30DC Blood on Steel Aftershave This Jeeves 30DC set was generously gifted to me by Perry @PLAla and today was my first run with it. I've never tried any product from Jeeves and today it really impressed! Some very slick, creamy and stable lather provided an excellent base for the Hydromagic to perform flawlessly. 3 easy passes provided a comfortable shave, with no stubble left behind. The aftershave gave me a nice menthol surprise that I had not noticed when I sampled it on my hands when it arrived. Perry said the scent was a powerhouse and he was not kidding. Thank you Perry! This set is a welcomed addition to my collection.
The Jeeves I have was PIFed....will be part of my arsenal for the rest of my life, probably....7 oz. of the Bay Rum soap.
Looking like a n awesome upcoming shave. Enjoy the brisket tacos while you watch the paint dry, oops I mean The Masters.
You too, Jeff, and thanks . A member here advised me to "let the weight of the razor do its work". (I'd mention his name, but he already knows his name, chuk yuk yuk).
Thank you Jeff. It was included in my finishing portion fo the shave. I must have forgotten to add it to the list of participants.
SOTD SUNDAY MORNING, NOVEMBER 15, 2020 Japanese silver steel razors really hold an edge! This morning I shaved with two razors, my NOS Diamond Hayashi Nichiri Tokusen 6/8 and my Barbasol Floating Head (BFH). The straight razor is one of two razors obtained through my son, Ben. Both the razors were finished by Ben on a jnat progression. These are the only two razors I have without a jasper stone edge. But that’s just fine by me as they shave magnificently. Three slow, luxurious passes (WTG, ATG, XTG) delivered that incredibly smooth velveteen shave surface that I find myself amazed at hours after the shave. I’ve reached a point in my straight razor technique where I don’t believe I could get a closer mug shave! The new Sapele/resin handled boar built for me by TSD’s extremely talented Canadian turner is perfect for MWF. I’m easily able to generate the two kinds of lather I require for my morning shaves - a thinner, wetter lather for my mug, and a thicker more yogurty lather for the noggin. The BFH is a highly efficient safety razor that requires concentration and focus during the dome shave as it does have a tendency to bite. I find when I take my time with this razor that my shave consists of a single ATG pass with some selected buffing, and that was the case this morning with one minor lapse in concentration resulting in a minor nick as I was buffing above my right ear. Regardless, I feel refreshed, velveteen smooth and ready for this morning’s task at my stepson’s. RAZOR: NOS Diamond Hayashi Nichiri Tokusen 6/8 (Mug), Barbasol Floating Head (Dome) BLADE: Kai DE PREP: Cold water rinse followed by Argan Oil BRUSH: Sapele/Resin Handled Pro48 Boar SOAP: Mitchell’s Wool Fat POSTSHAVE: Cold water wash with brush squeezings followed by Humphreys Lilac WH. Finished with Lucky Tiger Aspen AS Splash.
