I switched up the order a bit, first pass was my normal 3rd pass, then ATG, XTG and WTG. Same results as yesterday, irritation A and smoothness A. I do a combination of face and bowl lathering so my first pass lather is usually thicker than I like for a straight razor shave. I will work to make sure I have very wet lather for the first pass going forward. I think it maybe why I am getting a little bit of irritation. Today's razor was Koraat 14 2.0 in blood red scales.
I won't dispute your Cella experience, but I think yours may have been an isolated incident. I haven't heard of Cella going bad. I would guess maybe 10 or 15 years it would, but I would wonder why it happened. I have noticed that the Italian soaps dry very quickly so I can't say that it would go bad due to residual water in the tub.
Great Genesis shave! That is the one razor I never mastered! I think my lack of experience with Carts was the issue, but nevertheless I’m glad your shave went well!
I'll keep that in mind. Thanks, Gary. If I were using Cella exclusively, I would probably buy the 1 kilo brick and keep the extra in the freezer like I have seen some people mention doing. Heck, I may just do that anyway (you know, for the strategic reserve supply).
It does go against straight shaving convention, but if it works, then continue to go XTG on your first pass. I always knew you were strange in a good way. Lol!
Don't remind me.......Barry Manilow blew it with his version of "Let's Hang On"(Frankie Valli&The 4 Seasons).
Such awesome looking scales on that Koraat Keith. 'suh-weet! I sometimes play around with the shave pass order, not found a big difference....save for the comfort of trying ATG on the first pass. Uh....that's a no no for my face.
Nice job, Bill! You made that straight shave look easy! I like that you also included the blade stropping at the end.
it's well documented on many forums.mine was hitting the 4 year mark.it didn't go off but i didn't take the chance.i didn't like the color change from near white to very dark yellow.great soap though..
