good morning gents.fine bbs shave in 2+ with the brit new rfb.fabulous zingari man lather built with the EEmega 10098 boar and stonefield bowl, twisted thayers and nautica voyage to finish..awesome..
the brit rfb is a modified new lc based razor head.the brits had new lc razors at first but continued on building single ring type razors with the handle tube permanently fixed to the razor head.in order to do this they had to add more material to the bottom of the base plate for strength due to the long groove, hence the raised bottom design.all rfb base plates were machined and not stamped.the u.s news also had blade chattering issues so the rfb version had a more rounded section on top of the baseplate for more secure blade clamping,

One can see the differences in the side views of the base plate.the 2 piece versions were built from 1933 ish to 1945.all rfb's were either silver plated (before ww2)or nickel plated (after ww2) with one gold example in the milady debutante with a short handle.the last rfb design razor was the new tech hybrid which had a safety bar instead of an open comb.it was sold as a high end model and was rhodium plated.brit gillette switched to stamped baseplates during this time to produce the flat bottom tech ,the design originating from the 7 oclock razor.after 1949 brit gillette got u.s style tech base plate stamping machinery like everyone else.

New/tech hybrid
hope this clears up the differences.the U.S only made single ring handled type razors with the new deluxe baseplate/cap in the big boy configuration.it had the thicker baseplate material required to secure the handle tube to the base plate.

it came in chromium or gold.note the unrounded area where the blade sits like the U.S LC design.these also had blade chatter issues as found during this time period.1935 was the last year for the deluxe in all countries.1939 was the end of all New series production with the brit rfb up to 1947.open comb techs continued to be sold in Europe using the tech design for decades later.
this is speculation with some facts thrown in based on research.the dates maybe off a little and there is definitely more info and models not shown here.thank you Mr.Razor for the pics.
have a great day everyone.
