Sometime this month, I will do one just doing the side and the top of my dome. What I could do is get an orange and pretend it is the back of my head to show how I shave it.
It was a crazy thought I had then when I mentioned it Joe @Trigger picked up on it and gave me some great advice on how to get the back part of the head without being able to see what I'm doing. He's a pro at this .

it was much better, the blade cut through the hair a lot better this time. decided to just do a single with the grain pass this time for starters.
That is very wise. I would suggest 5 to 10 shaves that way until you feel comfortable to try going across the grain. You need to be able to use both hands and muscle memory is important!
Haha. Don't blame you there Joe . I have 2 straights that were generously given to me by Bill @Edison Carter and would love to someday do a headshave with them .......after more practice of course .
Very nice Myles! I'm sure you've watched lots of straight razor shave videos. Bill and Joe just posted up their YT debuts. FWIW....this was a video I watched about a handful of times when first using a straight. Over 10 years old. To this day, it's still about 90% of the exact way I do my first pass, from skin stretching to facial stretching to blade movements to area order.
