  2. Right now I am learning with the SR by only going with the grain, I'll finish up with my safety razor.

  5. Great move, Myles! Once you get the straight razor muscle memory working you’ll be well on the way! :happy088:

  11. December Focus
    [IMG]
    BAUME.BE~~Simpson PL8~~Barbasol Floating Head/Voskhod
    I am expanding my focus to include the Barbasol razor.
    I once again, took
    some photos of my lather-making process.
    They are perhaps redundant, but maybe they'll help a few.
    When this cream is used up, I will document a triple-milled lather creation.
    We'll begin with a sticky/gooey lather.
    IMG_6644.jpeg
    Here, I have dipped the tips of the knot (only) in water and continued to mix.
    IMG_6645.jpeg
    Here, I have emptied the knot, or what I like to call: clearing the breach.
    Notice how creamy and soupy the product is.
    IMG_6646.jpeg
    Without adding anymore water, I whipped the lather until it all came together.
    IMG_6647.jpeg
    This is a really shiny and slick result. The "Ice Cream" effect would make even @BaylorGator proud.

    The shave with the Barbasol was
    straightforward. Keeping a very light touch;
    avoiding all pressure, I performed a three-pass shave and a final cleanup pass.
    This lather provided an excellent cushion and protective "field", allowing the Voskhod
    to do its job, without any epidermal layer being irritated.
    Buffing was possible and used where needed.
    Today's post shave, un-photographed, included Witch Hazel; Stirling Glacial Unscented balm
    and completed with the Austrian mainstay: Alt Innsbruck.
  12. Excellent shave Barry!

  13. Terrific post, Joseph! I have never cleared the breach while bowl lathering. I need to try that sometime. I rarely bowl lather (maybe a couple of times a year) but I think clearing the breach would help.
  14. Awesome shave and and awesome tutorial as well..very informative on the lather. Have a great week end Joseph!

  15. Hi all...
    Only 1600 post behind.....
    Well...
    This morning I changed razor type.
    One of my favorite blade holders.
    Not because it shaves Great, yes it does.
    Not because it's very old, and it is.
    But because it's just a work of art.
    A razor blade holder that came from an age when looking good, was as important as, working good.

    Along with some great lather, a great shave.
    More mild then the others I've been using, still a great morning.
    All
    Enjoy!

    @JACarbone
    I love this setup.
    Superlathering with two great soaps makes a wonderful shave!!!

    @jtspartan / @Droo78
    Both totally efficient.
    Easy and long lasting BBS.
    I prefer Mild, a little more gentle.
    I've not to think to the blade, and It's faster.

    @jgreenepa
    Yes, Edelstein Ice is similar to Floid Blue.
    Just a little less metallic, and with some sweeter notes.
    I prefer this. The Blue was not one of my favs.
    And Ice is waaaay more alchoolic.
    Can not freeze: straight from the freezer is a blast !!!
