Dec 5 SOTD Good morning guys! Today was my 450th open blade shave. 226 straight and 224 shavette shaves are now under my belt. I did my video this morning and it is being downloaded to my YouTube channel. It takes forever and a day. Unfortunately, my sound wasn't great and that was because I wasn't loud enough for my poor phone mike. My bathroom is below my brother's bedroom and with my booming voice I would wake him up so there is the rub. Anyway, I was glad to show you my Mad Max in action. It was my 21st shave with it. The video of this shave will be on this thread sometime early afternoon. Straight Razor Shave #226 10/8 Max Sprecher 1/2 Hollow Barber's Notch Catie's Bubbles Tuxedo Knot Stirling Bay Rum SS and AS Whiskers: 40 hrs The shave went very well. The Catie's Bubbles brush really performed great by whipping up a great, creamy and cushiony lather. Love the Stirling By Rum scent. 2.5 passes gave me a near BBS shave with no blood or irritation. Applied the matching aftershave and I am feeling good and refreshed. I made this shave review short because you can see how my shave turned out on YouTube. Have a great day guys!
he only mentions it for a little bit, but I thought it was pretty cool. the rest of the video is him restoring the red ever ready.
Thank you Myles! She is the star of my collection. Hopefully, you will check out my video later. Downloading to You Tube takes forever and a day!
Thank you Gary! It was the first time that I have timed my shave from beginning to end. I am surprised that it took me just 15 min.
No, not at all. I just pretended that there wasn't any one watching. I just wanted to make sure that I didn't cut myself with a nick, weeper and not get any irritation.
December 5th Decedent Razor: Dovo Inox Brush: Chubby 2 Clone PS: Proraso Green SS & AS: Stirling Mountain Man I only have one stainless straight. Honestly I like that it doesn't rust as easily but I like the performance of carbon steel a little more. Anyway, it's decadent and the differences are subtle. So, the Inox is my straight for December. Prep was wetting and rubbing my face for about a minute then doing the same with pre-shave. I loaded the brush extra and face lathered for another couple minutes. No shower first today so I was careful that between the preshave and lather my whiskers were wet for about 5 minutes. I focused more on skin stretching and buffing the thicker areas. I did 3 full passes with the middle XTG pass being more diagonal under my jaw. ATG as usual with extra care in the areas that usually need cleanup, but no cleanup pass. The alum was slightly warm but no blood or irritation. One slight rough spot under my chin which is the place a struggle with most. I feel great. Have a great weekend everyone! Stay healthy and safe out there. Sent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk
December 5, 2020 Blackland Tradere OC Gillette 7 O’clock Black Heritage Collections C-Mon RR The Dead Sea Shave Soap & Aftershave @MrEE Evan mentioned earlier this thread is moving at a warp speed pace making it difficult for many including myself to keep up. From now through year end, I'm slammed at work. I will continue to participate in the thread by posting my shaves. However, I will be limiting the amount of my posts that are non instructional. I would like to have new folks feel free to join the thread without getting overwhelmed. I pulled out The Dead Sea for this morning's shave. I absolutely adore this scent of the soap. I have found the performance improves greatly if I overload the brush. Three passes and touch ups ended in a near BBS shave. My lower right neck proved my nemesis once again. A splash of The Dead Sea aftershave and I am ready to get some work done. I hope everyone has a great Saturday.
Great shave, and congratulations on 450 open blade shaves my enumerating friend! I look forward to watching you wield that huge shave hatchet of yours around the contours of your face, Joe! Enjoy your day, and try not to get too wet! All the best!
