Yes you need a linen strop. Linen cleans debris and oxidation from the edge and strops slightly more agressively. I suppose you could just strop on leather but it will take longer and your leather strop won't last as long. It's like only having a 12K stone. It works but no one would claim you are saving money by spending more time wearing out a more expensive tool.

Terrific video, Bill! I prefer a more efficient razor. I just don't want to do 5 passes without getting a BBS shave.

Some very unique gear, Matt. I’m not familiar with any of the software, truth be told. Sounds like the Kanion missed the mark scent wise perhaps.
Thanks for taking the time to do that, Bill, and to share with us. I only had time for about 10 minutes, but it was very informative for sure. Did the mobile cart make an appearance later in the vid?:)
Interesting pass order again, Keith. I see you did do the ATG pass first with the Joris yesterday. Quite rough?
Love the colours, Andrew. Man, the Injectomatic used to beat me up when I was first learning. Conquered it, and maybe regret moving it on a little bit. Still the most aggressive Injector I’ve owned.
Great post, Myles. After using so much Shulton, what is your take on the P&G?
Love that watch! Just checked out their site- some very nice autos at good prices for sure.

:) I think you'll see value in it over time. I purchased a cheap 20x jeweler's loop. It was interesting to see the edge before and after stropping. It's well worth the $10 as it helps you identify what you might be doing that's damaging the edge.

Edit: While I don't have as much experience as many on here, this year I started with a piece of scrap 1095 steel and shaped, heat treated and tempered, ground, and then honed my own razor. It looks like a prison shive but its a usable straight razor. I learned a TON and really feel like my honing skills jumped to a whole new level. ;) I started 2 more blanks which I plan to finish next May.

Please don't dare me to do stuff. A triple dog dare may cost months of my life and thousands of dollars.

    His neck is HORRIFIC!
I love all the stubble that remains afterwards as he continues to molest his face! :happy102:
Fair play to him for the laugh, though!

    Shaving recipe for today.

Prep: Warm shower / Cussons Imperial Leather ~ Arctic Ocean & Icelandic Moss Shower Gel.

    Pre:
Cold wet flannel to my face.
Yardley ~ English Lavender Bar Soap + Wilko Men's shave Oil.
    Brush : Omega S10065.
    Bowl Lather.
    Tesco's Ceramic 'Cosmo' Side Bowl.
Lather : The body Shop Maca Root Shave Cream.
Blade: Mers ~ Super Shave X Platinum. (3)
    Razor: Parker ~ 55SL Semi-Slant.

    Post:
Cold Water Face Rinse./Homemade (~Winter mix~) peppermint Lavender, +eucalyptus, Tea Tree Oil Witch Hazel Mixture./Gummy ~ Traditional Turkish Tobacco Cologne./ Morrisons ~Intensive moisture lotion.

    Greetings,

    Early morning shave,

The Maca Root cream provided me with a superb slick protective lather, people have a love/hate opinion's on it's scent, which doesn't get top marks which i agree but it's residual slickness protection ,shaving performance, & post shave feel are all superb. One of my favourite shaving creams.

A enjoyable 3 pass + pick ups close comfortable /near BBS shave with no errors to report...Finishing to the shave off with a small dollop of Morrisons ~Intensive moisture lotion.

My face is feeling super smooth & smelling divine.;)

Stay safe, and enjoy your Day ladies & gentlemen.

I’m actually advocating the use of more like 6-7-8......’what ever it takes’ passes to hit the lofty and coveted ‘comfortable and cotton ball smooth’ shave, if that is what you want.

I did forget to say that in the spirit of the 30DC learning principles, I used the tool exclusively and daily for about 2 months. It further confirmed my opinion that the pursuit of such labels is folly.

Good thing is, they are very inexpensive. I would even consider two, one unpasted and one you could paste with either CrOx or FeOx...perhaps one on each side of the pasted.
