  2. Dave, your expertise and wet-shaving know-how are welcomed and respected here! We’re very happy to have you! This has always been my home. I’ve learned from and hopefully contributed to those here as well! Your presence is a real resource for the crew, and especially to new members of this great hobby of ours, my friend! :happy088:

  4. Thanks for the kind words Jeff, I don't think I'm anything special and don't need special treatment. Just don't need to be stabbed in the back which I don't see happening here :eatdrink047:

  5. Wonderful shave Barry! Cella is definitely a great performer and I like the scent. I never entertained the thought of using a Bay Rum aftershave with it. I use Old Spice or Clubman Classic to finish a Cella shave. I will try pairing Stirling Bay Rum on my next Cella shave. I could afford to do so because my Stirling Bay Rum shave soap will run out befor the matching aftershave. Thanks for the idea because I can use the aftershave without buying the matching soap. Have a great day!

  6. Great looking shave, Dave! The Yates sounds like a wonderful razor. I'll have to keep an eye out for the polished release. I like shiny.
    I'm Jim BTW.

  7. I think you’ll find that this crew is a lot of fun as well, Dave! You’ve yet to meet Charlie, (@wristwatchb) one of the chief shenanigators around here! We both enjoy poking fun at each other’s shave soap preferences. He’s accumulated enough supplies of ‘stinky’ Tabac to last to the next millennium, and I’ve pretty much done the same with MWF. This is a warm accepting community. I guess probably because of all the nice, polite Canuckians here. In any case jump right in and have fun! :D
  8. Excellent video and shave setup today, Dave.

  9. Jim, I’m really looking forward to your post this morning! You’ll truly surprise me if you feature a truly distressed, ‘non-shiny’ razor! ;)

  10. Thanks Jim, keep in mind their polished is an electro-polish and not a hand polished so will still have some machining marks. I sent mine to a member in Canada so don't go by it when it gets back to me. He's on another level and I HIGHLY recommend his polishing.

  11. I've met Charlie since my arrival and learned he's from Kentucky but was unaware he was one of those Tabacians. ;)
    Thank you Sir

  12. :thanks: Joseph. I have a 1947 Super Speed I'm giving to my oldest son for Christmas along with a shave brush and some soaps.

  13. Razor: Gillette Aristocrat (birth year 1947)
    Blade: Gillette Silver Blue (2)
Brush: Three Amigos w/ Envy White
Soap: TSD 2x Iced Oakmoss Sandalwood
Aftershave: TSD 2x Iced Oakmoss Sandalwood
    Bowl: Timeless

Late to the party. I can never find this thread at the beginning of the month. The reason I say that this Aristocrat is a 1947 is because it has wings. I believe that wings were only produced in 1947.

  17. Jim, whatever you do don't go to the Yates Website which will mean you won't see they have polished razors in stock. :D
