I've actually had that razor for a little over a year but I figure someone had something put back that was worse. It's kinda like old old ugly hunting dog.......ugly, faithful and can still tree a koon.
Thanks Joe! It was surprisingly smooth. If you look at the safety bar it is rough but I guess the soap took care if it. I would definitely shave with it again. Take care!
It's not official until I call it tomorrow morning. We still have 2 hrs to go before the end of the contest.
<sarcasm> I'm pretty sure he cheated. I didn't know we were allowed to bead blast stuff. It always looks bad when the guy who makes the rules wins the contest. </sarcasm> Sent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk
Thank you, Joe! It was decent, but I did not enjoy the non-lathering aspect of the shave cream. But for only one greenback, it worked well. Kinda reminded me of my non-lathering MWF. Glad to be of service, Jeff! Thanks. This traditional shaving thing is supposed to save me money... Thank you, Clint! Thank you, Gary! Thank you, Evan. Even at $3.oo, it worked out well. Thank you, Jason. Yes, the blade worked well. No tugginess and it was smooth. Even without the included razor, they're worth $1 if you need some blades in a pinch. Thank you, Joe! Truthfully, I have 3 more. I figured I could give them away or use them for travel like you said. It worked fine today. Not the best quality, but sufficient. I also have one packed in a bug-out bag. Thank you, Danny! I'd love to hear the stories this old 1912 razor could tell! I've seen these Assured razors sold in several Dollar Tree stores over the past two years. Some times they are out of stock. That possibly means more people are trying out DE razors that had not before. It worked fine for me today.
Drive by posting time and continued experimentation with the order of my passes. Saturday: Five pass shave in traditional order WTG, XTG, XTG, ATG, WTG. The shave was epic (A+A+), the big 8/8 Friodur has an excellent edge, the Stirling was slick and given the un rushed shave the planets were in alignment. Sunday: Decided to do the standard 3 pass shave: WTG, XTG, ATG. No irritation (A+) but not as close as my normal shaves (A-). The Brian Brown razor sports a most excellent edge and the lather was slick and wet. Monday Shave: Another 3 pass test but changed order, WTG, ATG, XTG. The ATG felt a bit unpleasant but the results were good, irritation A+ closeness A. I forgot to wipe the fingerprints from the Cobra Classic (Feather Pro) before the pic, oops. I added some MWF to the B&M and the lather was most excellent.
December 14th Razor: H&S Co PO76 17-4 SS Blade: Gillette Winner (2) Brush: Grizzly Bay PureMagic Pre-shave: PAA Cube Soap: B&M Clusterfig PAA Galactic Witch Hazel B&M Unscented Balm AS: B&M Clusterfig Good morning! Not sure what happened this morning. I must've been moving in slow motion. The morning was getting away from me and I hadn't started my shave yet. Went with a quick hybrid two passer trying to hit everything I could against the grain with several direction changes. Great results! Near BBS with nearly silent alum. Have a great day! Belated "Ugly Razor" Shave Monday December 14, 2020 Pass 1 Razor: Boker 1061 "Our Own" Pass 2 Razor: Autostrop/Gem Pass 3 Razor: Yuma Blade: Wizamet (5) Brush: circa 1979 Unbranded Boar (Burma Shave) Soap: Arko AS 1: Humphrey's Alcoholado Maravilla 70 AS 2: Barbasol Pacific Rush Fragrance: Guerlain Vetiver So to make up for my Faux Pas of missing the "Ugly razor" shave yesterday, I went with 3 today. Not necessarily the ugliest ducklings around but after this many years most have either been cleaned up or reassigned elsewhere. So in order I went with wtg with the Boker "Our Own", xtg with the Autostrop and atg with the Yuma. I notice these Yuma's being hawked on the Bay as vintage but know they are still making them and copies in different areas. I got this one back in the day for a buck something from Best Shave in Turkey when they were still in business. Hard to believe this pot metal razor is still together as it was my daily driver and only razor for @3 years. The Arko soap is hated by many and loved by some. To me I get a synthetic lemon scent. I see how some could think urinal cake scented. I also think it will smell like whatever you let your mind settle on. I tend to not let mine drift to urinals when I'm shaving and so it's a soap to grab on occasionally although not often. Brush s the 1st brush I ever bought back in 1979 and has a story behind it. Needless to say it is well broken in and still a great latherer. The mug, a 3d test print by a friend. LLoonngg work day today so let's "Kick this Pig" Have a Stupendous day Everyone !!! Breakfast is some Guatemalan Coffee and wife's White Buttermilk Cake. Last pot of coffee so time to roast some more....
