I'm far from the Crew 'Historian', but in my time here (4 years give or take a day) it has morphed from an exercise in trying to prove Technique Trumps Tools to a 'I triple dog dare ya' kind of thing. Originally, the there was a group project (the popsicle stick razor, shaving with a Sayuri both come to mind) and then it took off from there. Randy
@BaylorGator started the incredibly generous Shavey Awards, which ended up rewarding (by recognition and prize) some dubious MAYhem accomplishments. I think the last one of those was 2019, if memory serves.
The blades (holder unnecessary, apparently) taped to various appendages MIGHT have been a high/low point (depending on perspective)...although Neal using Mayonnaise instead of shave cream was potentially the most infectious (I mean this literally, not in terms of other people actually wanting to do this) of the antics.
It is ironic that Danny considers this a 'Canadian' thing, as those first couple of years I made some popcorn and sat back and watched the tomfoolery. With some of the perpetrators seemingly long gone (bled out perhaps...?), I took up the torch and agreed to shave with Patrick's butterknife creation last year.
BTW- the popsicle stick razors can really work, the Sayuri not so much. Look it up, the worst disposable kamisori of all time. Would not remove hair from a drain, let alone a face...
