I said the same thing to another friend this week, Jason. If I wrote a book (I won't because nobody would read it), half of it would be written about 2020. For me, the year has been chock-full of incredible highs and lows and opportunities to learn more about myself and others. I constantly have to remind myself that it's not about me, to keep looking toward the future, to always remember my blessings, and to never give up. I've used the following quote so many times this year, and it always guarantees an eye-roll from my Bride. I sincerely hope that none of us let the lessons of 2020 go to waste. I look forward to ditching the masks, forgetting about Zoom and Facetime, and actually touching other people again without the fear of death. A group of kids in my community are placing "Be Kind" signs in front yards. I'm encouraged by their wisdom, yet saddened to think we need these kinds of reminders. I find myself wondering why I stick around on the 30DC. I've got the shaving thing down, and I'm not a collector. I stick around because of the friendships...and of course to make sure that nobody says anything good about MWF. May 2021 be a turning point for all of us.
Actually, after every shave, I remove and dry the blade, palm strop it, and set it aside for the next morning. I never use any DE blade more than twice with the exception of Suneko blades. For whatever reason every blade I’ve ever used with the exception of Sunekos and Personna 74s has begun to tug at some point during the third shave.
Fabulous shave Clint. Do not work to hard. If you are inclined, feel free to offer Joe, @Trigger, and I some assistance with our snow issue this afternoon.
Invest in a tap hammer, Maestro. You can use the bottom of a DMT Plate as the base. It’s really not hard!
It’s a brand of diamond embedded steel plate hones. Great for building a slurry on a very hard hone like my jasper. Also good for repairing a damaged edge on a straight razor!
Thank you for your concern Charlie! I realize that even though I am relatively in decent shape and good health, I am still 65 and still need to be cognizant of it.
What is this persistent lathering of which you speak, girly boy user of Tabac! Men with beards conditioned by MWF who abhor the stench of old lady leather purses can go days without daily lathers! Any rough sharp edge will do for our daily shave! A piece of glass, sharpened spoon, the rough honed edge of a dog tag whatever’s handy! As we age we develop suavity and sophistication as well as a a complexion to be envied! My comment and recent complexion photo regarding the stench you so love is below:
