Swedish Steel, like that! if you would recommend a razor US made, what would it be? Skickat från min iPhone med Tapatalk
If I had to create a short list, some of my favorites: Clauss (Fremont, Ohio) Maher & Grosh (Toledo, Ohio) I like the above in their bigger sizes, and the below in the 5/8 range Robeson (love the marketing for the Razor That Fits Your Face) Shuredge with the hammered tang (Rochester, NY) or really any vintage razor out of Little Valley, NY Tom
sometimes discretion is the better part of valor. Mix them improves both, going forward if I use Reserve Spice it will be with MWF.
Since I brought it up, sounded good for tonight... Clauss 23 Suds: A&E Sandalwood Shave Serum Splash: Oz Shaving Emerald City Finish: Dua Fragrances Invasion of the Royal Barbers Enjoy your shave. Tom
Thanks Tom, Seldom seen in Sweden, or perhaps never. Most common besides razors from Sweden.. is mainly Solingen and Sheffield. Hans Skickat från min iPhone med Tapatalk
7/8 Gauthier, a French ‘rattler’ type. Cream was SMN lathered with a Keyhole 4, and a bit of SMN balm finished up a lovely shave. I bought this razor at a brocante in Avignon in 2016 for €10. The scales were shot so Alfredo made some from a piece of Turkish burl walnut that I had. Turned out well I think.

Wm. Stenton & Son “Again Superior” Suds: A&E Tertius Splash: Shaving Shop The Club “ El Gaucho” Finish: Dua Fragrances Cuir De Milano This Stenton had to be a monster in its day... there is one on page 87 that is 10/8+. The regrind was done beautifully, and it took a wonderful Coticule edge. That tang is so huge . Enjoy your shave. Tom
An old 7/8 Tuckmar with a bent toe that fortunately doesn’t intrude on the straight part of the edge. It’s sitting on the stone that finished it, one of Alex Gilmore’s hoard Nakayamas. This will be a travel razor when travel is a thing again, lol. Cream was T&H West Indian Limes from a sample pack, and Myrsol Limon finished up. I am BBS and then some!
Borrowed the razor from my daughter . Clauss “EX-USU” Suds: A&E Tertius Splash: The Club’s El Gaucho Finish: Dua Fragrances Cuirass De Milano EX-USU is Latin “from practice” or a phrase interpreted as using “to one’s advantage.” Definitely used to my advantage this Sunday. Enjoy your shave. Tom
Your daughter clearly has excellent tastes in razors. Chris - enjoying learning, whatever the subject
Thank you Chris. She has fun giving me ideas for my projects, so she was the right person to enjoy this blade.
