    Good morning guys!

    Straight Razor Shave # 233
    10/8 Max Sprecher 1/2 Hollow B. Notch
    Catie's Bubbles Tuxedo Brush
    Stirling Blood on Steel SS and AS
    Dickenson's Unscented Witch Hazel

    Everything went well with the shave, except Max lighly kissed the top of my ear to give me a tiny nick that was gone with the pen. Fantastic, near BBS shave was the order of the day. Applied the witch hazel and then the awesome juice to finish this shave. My skin looks and feels great. I think I will bring out one of my DE razors for my next double duty shave.     Excellent shave report and photos Joseph. I think many artisan soap makers really do themselves a great disservice by constantly changing things. While in some cases the change might be better, at best it leaves the consumer frustrated. I have grown weary of the chase.

    I was in the auto business 20 years ago so apparently things have changed since then. I was sharing from my perspective as a salesman. I didn't get into the service end because it wasn't pertinent to my discussion with Evan's recent experience. However, I agree with you that the service dept is where the dealer makes money because the mark-ups and labor costs are ridiculous.

    The CH2 is a great little face lathering machine. The Desert Vetiver felt wonderful with an intoxicating scent. If I had to pick one soap manufacture, SV would be the one. Three passes and touch ups ended in a near BBS shave. Off to my Mom's for a family Christmas luncheon. I hope everyone has a great Sunday.

    There has been a lot of consolidation and concentration in the industry. In most cities you see several big players owning multiple lines. The business has become so capital intensive. The internet has also made the consumer much smarter and able to see more of the information.

    Clint I agree with you on artisan soap makers changing things, especially from the side of the consumer(which we are). It's like businsses suddenly losing confidence in the product they just made so they feel they have to try something new. Then the "something new" may in the long run be not good enough after all so they feel they have to try something new. Then(broken record time lol).

    Awesome shave Joseph! Glad you got the older B/M Bay Rum. I don't understand why these soap makers fitz around with reformulating their tried and true bases. I understand it is a marketing tactic to increase their margins, but they will eventually price themselves out of the market share by continuing with this practice.

    Look what happened to Rise.....I was so happy to get my order from RiseInt'l....thinking it was a superfoam version of the original Rise. Boy, was I wrong! I mean...I liked the product very much, but it just wasn't the same. At least they didn't mess it up by TOO much, but still...
