Ok, I decided to do a DE shave to celebrate my anniversaary. My first DE was a VDH, but I chose the Model T because it is my most decadent safety razor and the Rockwell brand was one of my first. I also chose the Christmas Eve software because let's face it, this is the most appropriate week to use it. In fact, I will be using Stirling Christmas Eve throughout this week and maybe next week as well. I also chose the JR #386 because it is my top brush.
At 24 hrs growth, I really was socially presentable, but I decided to shave anyway.
The JR #386 has been a lather hog for me and the brush handle always was getting slippery when wet. I recently had solved this problem by wetting the face with the brush to get rid of the excess moisture. The brush is damp enough to make a pasty load so that I facelather and add small amounts of water to the tips and continue until I get the lather that I want. With this method, I did get a nice, creamy slick lather and during the shave, I didn't have a slippery brush handle. However, the brush still hogs lather, but it's not as bad as it has been. Did 2 passes and got a near BBS shave. Applied the witch hazel and the matching aftershave to finish. In retrospect, I should have used setting 4 with a new blade and a small amount of stubble because I felt the aftershave burn. C'est la vie! Have a great day guys!
