  4. I agree regarding Aramis. It reminds me of Kathy's Dad and her dear Uncle. I like it for its "vintage" vibe. When I'm in the mood for a modern cologne, I choose TDH. I will be curious to know what you think about it. I hope it arrives soon.
  5. Thank you, Blair!

  10. Super black and white image Barry, love the shave combination and report!

Cool shiny everything Jim! Such an incredible deep green in that brush handle.

Very suhweet Gibbs razor Dave. Another cool safety razor on the purchase list long ago....but was a little put off by the blades needing mods. Then I fixated on acquiring a Rex Ambassador, and have been happy with it.

Still loving that orange WW brush handle Joe! It's a brand on the radar. Enjoy the Christmas and New Years break!

SOTD TUESDAY MORNING, DECEMBER 22, 2020

Today ended my Japanese straight razor mug shaving streak. I own three, and have already shaved with my R. Saito SK3 7/8 and Diamond Hayashi 6/8. Today’s shave was with the first Japanese razor I ever acquired, the Tanifuji Airi 11/16. I also selected the 2011 Muhle R41 safety razor with the Weber handle for my dome shave. After my shower, the heavy (15 oz) 316L SS Tuxedo Synth whipped up the two lathers I enjoy. Two sessions, one on Chromeox pasted and the other on 0.1 diamond sprayed linen, followed by a leather stropping had the Tanifuji in fine fettle. What a lovely three pass (WTG, ATG, XTG) mug shave! The Rearden Razor SS brush felt great during the face lathering process for the mug, and easily generated enough bowl lather for three dome shaves. I really like this knot. The two pass (ATG, ATG) dome shave was uneventful, and only differed from the two prior Eclipse Red Ring shaves in having more blade feel which was not a bad thing. I enjoyed the deftness of the Eclipse in my two preceding shaves, but the raw efficient weightiness of the R41 in this morning’s shave was every bit as enjoyable. I feel clean, smoothly velveteen and refreshed.

RAZOR: Tanifuji Airi 11/16 (Mug), 2011 Muhle R41 with Weber Bulldog Handle
    BLADE: Feather DE (1)
PREP: Cold water rinse followed by a scrub with Argan Oil
BRUSH: Rearden Razor 316L SS Tuxedo Synth
    SOAP: Mitchell’s Wool Fat
POSTSHAVE: Cold water wash with brush squeezings followed by Humphreys Lilac WH and Osage Rub.
  12. What about a sssssslllllllooooooowwwwww buy 2021? Like 1 item (or purchase) per quarter? Or maybe a 'one out, one in' type of year, ala @jtspartan? I've been seriously pondering either idea....as I'm overloaded with everything, and the want/search list has narrowed significantly to a handful of fingers.
  13. Great shave Jeff

Another run with Hawk this morning and I have to admit I was kind of dreading it due to the previous shaves and the tugging.

I loaded a fresh Feather Professional Blade and took a little advice from Joseph @Primotenore. If you remember he suggested that I might need to increase my "momentum".

I loaded the big Omega boar and whipped up a nice slick batch of Soap Commander. Lathered the skin up and put the Hawk to the face. I throwed the Hawk around this morning like my Karve with a C plate. Oh what a difference....the Hawk is shaving like I dreamed it would....nice and smooth. Three glorious passes of excellence.

Now what gives? Could I have two previous bad blades or was Joseph's suggestion the key? I seem to think Joseph's suggestion was the answer but I will pull one of the other blades out in the morning and see how that goes. For some reason in the back of my mind I was a little hesitant to "open" these Hawks up and was probably going to slow. I will know in the morning but I think Joseph was right. Thanks Joseph!

Finish this awesome shave up with some Irish Chestnut by Andy Hilfiger.

    Take care guys.
