SOTD THURSDAY MORNING, DECEMBER 24, 2020

Well, it's Christmas Eve, and I’ve a host of last minute errands to run. Nate, my three year old grandson is spending the night with us. He’s looking forward to his Christmas morning shave with G-Pop. I've just got to make sure that I keep him quiet in the early morning so he doesn’t wake his grandma up. He shaves with Barbasol and his great-grandpop’s debladed Slim. His enthusiastic yips will have to be toned down somehow. I’m still working the problem.

I’ve never been much of a Gillette TTO fan, but this gold British Rocket is definitely growing on me. Maybe it’s the blade, but as a believer in the TSD mantra of “technique trumping tools” it's probably just part of my dialing in process. I've had this safety razor for almost two years, but have shaved with it less than half a dozen times. It sailed through the delightfully thick lime lather effortlessly. Its usage frequency will definitely change after today’s excellent two pass (ATG, ATG) noggin shave.

The Castle Forbes Lime shave cream performed admirably this morning. The Sapele/Resin handled Omega Pro48 Boar Knot easily generated the dilute, slick face lather I love for my mug shaves. The C-Mon Special 11/16 sang the buttering toast melody as it cleared away the facial stubble in three, slow, luxurious passes (WTG, ATG, XTG) with ease. I feel velveteen smooth, refreshed and quite upbeat. I’m off to pick up some Prosecco and the beef tenderloin my wife prepares every Christmas. Happy holidays and Merry Christmas to all my shave brothers and sisters out there!

RAZOR: C-Mon Special 11/16 (Mug), British Gillette Gold Rocket
    BLADE: Wilkinson Sword DE
PREP: Cold water rinse followed by a scrub with Argan Oil
BRUSH: Sapele/Resin Handled Omega Pro48 Boar
CREAM: Castle Forbes Lime Essential Oil
POSTSHAVE: Cold water wash with Glyce Glycerin soap followed by Humphreys Lilac WH. Finished with Royall Lyme AS/Cologne.
  18. What a week, Jason. So thankful that Stephanie is OK! You have a beautiful home. It reminds me of It's a Wonderful Life. Extra credit if you can say this in a Jimmy Stewart voice:

“You sit around here and you spin your little webs and you think the whole world revolves around you and your money. Well, it doesn’t, Mr. Potter. In the whole vast configuration of things, I’d say you were nothing but a scurvy little spider!”

Happy birthday to your son, and Merry Christmas! :)
  19. Wonderful above the shoulder shave Jeff! C-Mon razors are great razors!
