HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE! Just got home earlier today from a friend of mine New Year eve party. had a great time kicking in the near year as I'm sure as others did on this thread. anyway for tonight's shave I brought out TOBS tobacco leaf shave soap (for whatever reason the lather dissipated quickly, possibly due to the fact I didn't drink enough water causing my skin to absorb the water out of the lather?) still had some slickness protecting me. finished up the shave with the small batch winter reserve shave tonic and a little bit of classic club man splash. Off to watch a few episodes of my new show for the night. Steven king did a excellent job writing the story even though he is more known for the book vs the mini series.
Oh I am tempted to try other things but I am a minimalist. I have been a divorced bachelor for many years. I live in a small studio apt so I can't hoard stuff. I have minimal furniture and entertainment devices. I use public transit. I enjoy the simple things in life like a good, comfortable shave and as I get older with less responsibility I have more time to enjoy these things. Here is the shelf in my medicine cabinet devoted to my "daily" shaving gear. Everything fits nicely. The Shaverboy magnet came with my pack of 100 blades. The little can of Barbasol is just there for decoration. Extra blades, large original Barbasol can, other aftershaves are on a different shelf next to the cabinet. The little black cup holding the razors is also used to pre-soak my brush before use while I am showering. I think it's pretty simple with everything within easy access.
You are welcome, Frank. There is alway's the internet to get any of the soaps. However, Williams and VDH can be found in some supermarkets in the men's shavimg section. Oh, I forgot about Tabac. In stick form it will be 8 to 9 dollars and will last as long as Arko. As you can see, this hobby is egalitarian. It caters to everyone's needs and wallets. Lol!
It works! Keep enjoying your shave and enjoy the comments, and pics in this thread. Oh, sometimes there is a bunch of jive talkin' here. One last thing, whatever gear any one uses, it is our daily goal to get the best shaves with the razor we choose. This is true whether you only have one razor or in some cases more than 50. We are here to cheer you on to be the best shaver you can be and to enjoy the comraderie.
I meant Williams and Van der Hagan is available in some supermarkets. As far as I know, Tabac is only available on the internet.
My Dad liked it on eggs also. I prefer Frank's red hot sauce myself ( not on eggs ). Different generations like different things sometimes.
You're welcome Frank. You're off to a great start with your setup. I'm always here if you have any questions or need tips for a MAYhem shave .
Awesome outdoor image Danny! Cool setup, love the red brush. Looking forward to another great year of Hembree project images and hearing about grand dad spoiling the new Christmas bundle! Can I still be in the frag head club if I can accurately describe all the fragrance notes in Repel, Sportsman Max, 40% DEET, 227.3 ml w/atomizer?
Congrats on the very fine razor, Dave! As for the NB21, it's like you blew out the engine before the race really started.
I wonder if all the "butters and skin food" ingredients added to the actual soap base cause them to go bad. I should take a look at some I haven't used in a while.
