  1. Yes, I never would have thought that I would have that many razors. Excluding Mad Max, it is hard for me to choose a razor in my collection.

  5. awesome shave and pic Frank..good morning..love the set up.i used williams and wilkinson soap exclusively for 10+ years as a cart shaver..you may find a better brush in future though.i killed a few of those wilkies during that time period.they tend to start shedding heavily around year 2..;).a resin handled semogue like the 830 is a cheap long lasting model..omega 10050 is a great brush as well, but don't soak the handle..;)
  6. 49 degrees and sunny here in the PA burbs!

  9. I actually have 26 straights, Joe, but two 18th Century stub tails are currently at Glen's (@gssixgun) undergoing beauty treatment (ie restoration). So I guess I've got you by one. Look squirrel!!! No stub tail!! ;) One of them is an 8/8. It'll be cool shaving with what is probably a 250 yr old razor. :)
  10. Gary, as a friend you're supposed to tell me I need to reduce not add! :ashamed001:

  15. Hi Thanks for the information about the Wilkinson brush. If I can get a year out of this brush I will be happy since that's my goal. It was only $7. For the future I have my eye on an Omega brush I saw at the local pharmacy but I don't recall which one. It was only $15. It might have been the 830?

    Tatara Nodachi
    Gillette 7 O’clock Black
    Tatara Boar
    Mitchell’s Wool Fat
Small Batch Shave Tonic “Winter Reserve”

The MWF was up for today after being benched yesterday. The Tatara/Semogue boar did a wonderful job loading and lathering the Fat. The Nodachi is fighting hard to save its space in the den. Three passes and minimal touch ups caught the baby with ease. Perhaps my technique has improved enough to bring this razor into the fold. The Nodachi will need to become almost automatic to hang around. I have too many razors that deliver stellar shaves on auto pilot to fool with razors that require to much attention. I hope everyone has a wonderful Saturday.

    Simpsons Shave Cream
    Jason's '19 30dc LE w/Omega Boar
    J.A. Henkels 472 Friodur 6/8
    Phoenix Artisan Accoutrements Star Jelly
Art of Shaving - Vetiver Citron Cologne Intense

January is a little bit of a sentimental month of shaves for me.....2 years ago is when I sought out a change from the cartridge/gel goop shaving world that lasted way too long. Today's shave is with my first straight razor purchase 2 years ago, a Friodur that was rescaled and honed by Glen Mercurio (gssixgun here on TSD and elsewhere). Also pulled out a shave cream I'm hoping to Edmund Fitzgerald soon. Simpsons shave cream comes in a tin, but could easily be packaged in a tube, it's that soft. @jtspartan's brush handle loaded with a beast of a boar knot....slightly damp, loaded to the hilt, created a uber lather, thick, goopy, but still peaky with a great sheen. 3 full passes, WTG, XTG in to out, and XTG out to in.....nice super smooth baby in da house. One lip Polka Dot (pending © @Paul Turner ) that never seeped...otherwise near perfect shave for the first of 2021. Good slathering of PAA's star jelly, a gel like alcohol & witch hazel unscented but slightly mentholated after shave 'lotion'. Great skin feel without any oily residue.

Complete over dose spritzing with AoS Vetiver Citron, which is similar to Terre D'Hermes in overall aroma, but lacks the citrus punch & longevity that TdH has for my skin chemistry. The citrus of Vetiver Citron recedes rather quickly after dry down, ~30 minutes, and I'm left mostly with woody (but still slightly tart) characteristics of vetiver. Found this 'Cologne Intense' while out shopping with wifey long ago.....this was marked 70% off retail.....so if you have a Marshall's around, might want to visit for some super deals found in the 7-8 square feet of the men's section.

Hope everyone has a fantastic Saturday!
