Very late shaves of the month post.

I apologize for the late shaves of the month post for December 2020.

December was all about using more of my international shave soaps, featuring one of my new Yaqi brushes the marble handled synthetic with a "plissoft" knot. I recently got another Yaqi brush, the sagrada familia straight from Yaqi South Africa, and a review on that brush as well as the bundubeard "mystery" soap will be released later this month.

Spoiler alert, I'm absolutely loving both products, it's really amazing how two excellent synthetic brushes can perform equally well while having different properties, but I'll get into that in the review later this month.

I must say i really enjoyed the Proraso this month even though i usually prefer tallow based soaps like the pipe smoke and Rooi Afrikaaner.

I was pleasantly surprised at how much of a difference the new synthetic made with the proraso, it was like using a completely different soap performance wise. I guess I'll have to go back and try some of the soaps i struggled to get good performance out of and test them with the synthetic brushes.

    Shaves 1-5:
Razor: Gillette aristocrat barber pole handle
Brush: Yaqi marble handled synthetic (24mm)
Blade: Gillette 7 o clock sharp edge (1-5)
    Soap: Uncle Jon's pipe smoke
    Aftershave: old spice wolfthorn

    Shaves 6-10:
Razor: Gillette aristocrat barber pole handle
Brush: Yaqi marble handled synthetic (24mm)
Blade: Gillette 7 o clock sharp edge (6-10)
    Soap: Proraso Sapone
    Aftershave: old spice wolfthorn

    Shaves 11-15:
Razor: Gillette aristocrat barber pole handle
Brush: Yaqi marble handled synthetic (24mm)
Blade: Gillette 7 o clock sharp edge (11-15)
    Soap: Bundubeard Rooi Afrikaaner
    Aftershave: old spice wolfthorn[IMG][IMG][IMG]

What is Drew Brees had passed his physical?

    OOPS.

    Like the SEC Title Game?

It means we must win a dogfight on the strength conditioning, film and situational awareness. Everyone executing their role and trying to do anything required to give our team a chance to be successful. We'll strive put ourselves in positive situation and compete....hopefully we emerge as champion.

Every Bama interview in the Saban era is the above.

Saban is the highest paid public employee in Alabama.

    We're lucky we got him.

Thank you Joe...more use of the Rise balm will help me secure my other aftershaves, thus protecting me from blowing NB21.

LOL...hey let's play Jeapordy-Kathy can play too, since she watched Louisville-BC yesterday.

    THE ANSWER IS: No.

    The question:

a)-since the Cardinals were in Boston playing BC, did I go to the game?
    B)-Do I love TSD?
    C)-Do you like ice cream?

    3P Almond Shaving Soap~~dubl duck #4~~2011 Mühle R41/Gillette Platinum~~Nasomatto Absinth
Making his first appearance of 2021...drumroll, please...Vault Boy!
VB asked me to say "hello" to all of his fans out there in TSD land.

He has been sequestered in Vault 101 ever since this Covid outbreak and
today, he girded his loins to come out into the toxic atmosphere to pay homage to Primo's shave.
I am humbled, to say the least.
For anyone who cares, we practiced social distancing.
Once again, and get used to it friends, we stuck to our "rule" and lathered up the 3P.
    Vault Boy approved, btw.
Fresh Gillette Platinum inserted into the R41.
I won't bore you with the details, but rather skip ahead to the, you know where, pass.
The pass reminds me of a tone arm skipping in the groove of an LP.
It jumps...and when it lands, it causes a miniscule breach in the epidermis.
This happened three times and have to blame "user-error"...but would rather not.
This "skipping" does not always occur and honestly, I have to put part of the blame on this blade and the soap.
There. I said it. Not Primo's fault. :rolleyes005:

Moving on, I de-soaped my kisser with my Witch Hazel and treated my coconut-induced
dry skin with a really nice product: Proraso ASB for sensitive skin.
Received a tiny sample bottle from C.O. Bigelow Chemists and I would mos def© repurchase.
FOTD© (duly registered with the US Patent Office) was a lovely, woody, scent.
    Nasomatto Absinth.

Fantastic shave Dave! I guess user error may be the cause of a shaver's dissastisfaction with any razor or the razor isn't compatible with their beard and skin type.

SOTD SUNDAY MORNING, JANUARY 3, 2021

This morning’s shave featured the A. Witte Copperhead 6/8 and the Ronson Safety Razor. This particular NOS straight razor arrived six months ago with a note in the accompanying coffin box, “Honed by Henrey 1939”. There still remained a very respectable 81 yr old bevel which I refined. Since then, it, like all of my straights, was retouched on my new 12k Naniwa Super Stone with a final polish on the jasper stone. I really enjoy shaving with this vintage Solingen razor. The Alpha Shaving T-400 Tribute with its 26mm Boar ferrule generated the lovely, slick, thin mug lather that always makes for a great mug shave. Straight shaving teaches one patience, skin stretching and lightness of touch. Those same qualities carry over into safety razor shaves as well. This little Ronson is a head-heavy, deceptively efficient shaver with its Schick B-20 Proline Injector blade loaded, and one of my top 5 head shavers. Both razors delivered a refreshing, cool, clean, velveteen smooth shave.

RAZOR: A. Witte Copperhead Solingen 6/8 (Mug), Ronson Safety Razor
    BLADE: Schick Proline B-20 Injector
PREP: Cold water rinse followed by a scrub with Argan Oil
BRUSH: Alpha Shaving T-400 Tribute w/ 26mm Boar Ferrule
    SOAP: Mitchell’s Wool Fat
POSTSHAVE: Cold water wash with brush squeezings followed by Humphreys Lilac WH and Osage Rub.

Nice one passer Chris, hope all gets better for the eyes!

Lovely image, shave combo and image Barry!

You keep showing that Endymion so I went searching....reviews are very enticing....hmm....Does it break the NB if I put it on a Birthday/Father's Day/Anniversary/Christmas wish list....that'd get me 4 chances of frags for the year! :happy102:

Still loving that F Type, looks really cool.

Great setups Matthew! Synthetics do up the ante for lots of soaps. Hope all is well!
