Jan 3, 2021 SOTD Good morning guys! Shavette shave #230 Dovo Shavette Personna Hairshaper Blade (10) Omega Pro 49 Boar Brush Stirling Bay Rum SS and AS Dickenson's Unscented WH (not pictured) Whiskers: 40 hrs I am definitely converted into a hot water shaver. Used the brush to wet my face. I didn't shake or squeeze out the excess and went straight to load. Got the froth on the brush and applied to the face and neck. Kept loading and lathering, loading and lathering to get that nice, creamy, beautifully slick lather. I believe the combo of the abundant amount of water and its hot temperature really makes it very easy to get this creamy lather. I only needed 2 passes and a minor touchup to get a very near BBS. It would have been as smooth as glass BBS if I didn't have spot on my lower neck that had invisible sandpaper. Did get a tiny chin weep that the pen erased. Added the witch hazel and then the matching aftershave to finish this awesome shave. I have to say that after a number of hot water shaves, I have joined this side of the shaving community. On 40 hrs growth and a blade and still getting great shaves with a blade that has ten shaves; it definitely has convinced me to be a hot water shaver. Since I used the same setup as yesterday's shave, I used the same pic. Have a wonderful Sunday guys!
Thanks, Cliff!, we’re currently at 35 degrees with icy rain and sleet! No fun! Getting Gromit to use the outdoor toilet is a challenge!
Excellent shave Frank! With experience, you will know how much to load your brush for your shave. In your journey, you will be learning new ideas that you may try to improve your technique. In my case, I have more than 2 yrs wet-shaving experience and recently changed my lathering technique as well as using hot water for my shaves. Again, the goal is to get a great shave every time out and sometimes changing routines may get you there. Enjoy your day!
Day 3 of my January Rule Tuxedo Synthetic brush Col. Conk Glycerin based Bay Rum Soap Gillette C1 Flair Tip Personna Blue (3) Proraso Green toning lotion w/menthol & eucalyptus A normal 3.5 pass routine including ATG on my neck. I gave particular attention to skin stretching and a gentle touch. Pristine sharp steel would have little or no resistance on this move. I think this is where the normal tendency to press harder accelerates irritation. I think I avoided it, but don’t know if I can make that same one on 4. Good to see Chris @Bama Samurai drop by with his friend Ricky Flairtip to keep things in ‘Woooo’. I did pick up a good tip from his vid. The dripping of water to the brush with the hand beats my historic ‘brush under the faucet’ method.
