I’ve never experienced razor skipping/hopping with a safety razor. Blade chatter, yes, but usually me not tightening something, or a razor that doesn’t clamp close to the blades edge (flex). I have had skipping pretty badly when I was first learning to use a open edge, specifically the Feather AC DX. It’s actually why I changed (removed) the scales, so I could hold it like the CJB style kamisori. It was February 2019, before I was posting regular. First time of a shave it was a weeper, second was worse....much worse. Still have it happen infrequently. It’ll wake you up like a deer at the edge of a 2 lane highway at 2am at 70mph. I think I’ve noticed it’s usually a dryer spot of thick lather, combined with a pretty tough stubble area, 24+ hour growth. I don’t have it happen with heavier open blades, usually the full hollow blades or light kamisoris. Hope that helps. Had to giggle a little. It’s like fat makes you fat....no...carbs make you fat.....no....wait....diets make you fat. I prep with a hot wash cloth. 15 seconds, water roughly 125 degrees. Then apply lather to the face. So relaxing. Next cold spell, I’ve got the scuttle ready for some hot lather.... Of course, here....it’s still barely end of fall.
That’s pretty cool Myles! Jan 13th...now that’s a pretty cool date. Are there markings that narrow it to a specific day? I thought it was usually just which quarter of the year, and the year.
I forget exactly how the seller managed to pull the date, but it's pretty neat because it was just a few days before prohibition was enacted (January 17, 1920) Could be the patent date.
What could possibly be occupying your time, Danny! Oh yes, work!!! Let me tell you, it’s pretty tough in the MOLC! Why just this morning I had to decide whether peel the grape and then eat the Brioche followed by a sip of coffee, or to really go wild and sip the coffee, then eat Brioche and then peel the grape! Decisions, decisions , decisions!! All the while wondering whether I should wear the ascot with the silk smoking jacket while enjoying my MonteCristo Eagle!! Thank goodness I had my morning Bloody Mary at hand!
That my boy, is a gold New Standard model Tuckaway, and one of the best shavers Gillette ever built! Mine’s in silver, but they all shave beautifully!! Very efficient shaver! Enjoy it!
