  2. Terrific shave Danny! One of the You tubers reviewed RR Black Label. He said it did a good job and for the 2 dollar price it can't be beat. Now, I don't know lf he got it on sale, but that is ridiculously low. How many ounces are given for the soap?

    3P Almond Shaving Soap~~dubl duck #4~~2011 Mühle R41/Gillette Platinum
Back on the "Rule" train and I am glad to be back aboard.
    There's a
reason it takes multiple shaves to figure specific products out.
Today, I could have abandoned the 3P, and honestly, when it's gone, it'll stay gone...BUT
It does make a stabile lather and offers a modicum, or more, of protection.
No, it's not the slickest soap out there, but that really shouldn't matter.
Today, I didn't bloom, but started with a soaked and well wrung-out brush.
There was about a teaspoon or less of water on the puck and I went to work.
The brush digs in and really tears up the soap (thank goodness).
    Then to the bowl.
Took my time and whipped the lather into a frenzy, before clearing the breach and adding some water.
This turned out to be enough to sufficiently hydrate my lather and this was the result:

    Another thing I did
differently in this shave was to go back to my roots and "ride the cap"
I loaded a fresh (I am going to use a new blade everyday) Gillette Platinum in the R41
and keeping the angle extremely shallow, proceeded to shave.
    No buffing :rolleyes005:
    Only light pressure :happy088:
Well, my neck would not pass the cotton ball test, but it isn't irritated either :happy088:
Eschewed :) the Witch Hazel and went right to an ASB: C.O. Bigelow Bay Rum.
Completed the shave with their cologne.
It's an atypical Bay Rum, but one that isn't in any way harsh.
    Nice juice.

  5. Thanks I'm loving the flare tip! Since I've only been using the Shaverboy and Wilkinson Sword blades I'd say they're pretty close in terms sharpness and aggressiveness. I have nothing else to compare them to. I'd say you can probably get 3 shaves from a blade. I have successfully used one blade for 2 shaves without any problems. Since they're so cheap I don't feel like it's a waste tossing the blade after 2-3 shaves. My only concern is the distinct smell of machining oil that comes from the package but I rinse them off before using.

Even Superman gets a shave! :happy102:

  7. Beautiful shave and photo, Danny!
Great shave, Maestro, with your usual great lather shot! I get your wanting to master this soap, but at my point in life I have no interest in any product that’s subpar. Unfortunately, that is the problem with most of my remaining safety razors. They either shave well, or have a sentimental connection (my father’s Slim and Gold Black Beauty) which definitely puts a crimp in my den reduction hopes. Enjoy your shaves and stay safe out there! :)

  8. Great shave, Frank! I liked and used Wilkinson Sword blades, but have pretty much transitioned to Feather blades for most of my dome shaves. :)

  9. Thanks! I like the Wilkinson Sword blades too but I recently received a 100 pack of blades from Shaverboy so I am pretty much set for a year or more. Since I'm also enrolled in the No-Buy 2021 group I don't expect to buy any new blades for the rest of the year.

Up early this morning with the plan to get in line at a local CityMd clinic to lock in an appointment for Czar Cuomo’s mandatory COVID test to be able to leave quarantine. I had planned to get on line around 6:30 in the morning, place opens at 8. I heard from a neighbor that he was on line for almost 2 hours to make the appointment. Given it was a wee bit chilly this morning and I had previously spent two hours in the cold waiting three weeks ago, I decided to change the plan. Fortunately, the school district I am employed is providing free COVID testing for residents and employees. Therefore, upon the completion of my work day at home I will head to the district for the test.
Prior to my shower and shave, I managed to get in an X3Bar workout. I definitely prefer the morning workouts.

I had a great three pass shave with one of my favorite scented soaps. I can not help it, I just love the Oud. The Tuckmarr razor took care of business with incident. A silent alum, refreshing balm and splash and I am set for a day with the “Yutes”.

    Have a great day gentlemen.
  14. Starting tomorrow (Thursday) work? I'll do it.
Edit: After reading more, it appears Sunday Jan. 10 is the start date, correct?

Using the same soap every other day until it is gone is a 1508.5. I HATE 3017's when you use the same soap every day till gone. This gives me variety every other day and helps reduce soaps in the den. Half a 3017 so it's a 1508.5 coined by a member on another forum and I liked it.
Great shave and workout. Hope you get the test done and behind you. Have a good day !
