I remove excess water from my brushes using painting strokes across a dry tissue and stand them up on my sink top to dry fully before storing them. I have a brush stand but haven't used it for years. Never had a problem doing this.

I would be surprised if you did not get a great shave with that lineup Chris.

Between the two of us, hopefully we can get Joe on the right track.

You really got him by bringing up capillary action. I'm saving the surface tension argument in case he remains disagreeable. :)

Every one has their way of drying shave brushes. I was only stating conventional wisdom that it was recommended to dry brushes upside down. I never said it was mandatory. However, I do use a brush stand to help the process along or lay it on it side like I mentioned earlier.

After finishing a shave, I dry tools with a hand towel. Then a gentle scrub on the towel like making a bowl lather to dry it further. Then I do the daily image, and immediately after the brush goes into a brush stand, knot down. It’s one of those old fashioned rotating rubber stamp holders that hold 8 at a time.

i stand them up as well.air circulates throughout the bristles .as they dry, moisture is drawn upwards..:D

I think I will just refrain from buying another painted brush. ;)

Took me a while, as I was looking at the wrong side of the blade, but I can see the modifications you made. Thanks for the post, Jason.

Same thing here and never a problem for all these years. The ratio of people that do either up or down knot drying is probably 50/50

I know you have a lot on your plate for the time being. Just wondered if you decided to keep yours shiny, or planned on a forced patina sometime. Besides....you need to start turning some handles when the schedule frees up a little. :)

Rules get exponentially easier the longer you stick with them.
Case in point, this morning's shave.
    Wasn't going
to shave, because I have to be to work early, but I thought I would get in a quickie. ;)
Face-lathered the 3P and left it more like butter cream.
New blade in the R41 and surprisingly, there was no issue with slickness.
The thing about this razor is two-fold:
    1) Blade exposure is large
    2) Angle of exposed blade is aggressive.
It's a real Twofer with regard to challenges.
Nevertheless, today's shave was without issue, except for a minuscule area on my chin,
which I tried to clean up without too much thought.

Awesome shave Joseph! I just realized that you're a natural fragger. You deal with notes all the time.

SOTD FRIDAY MORNING, JANUARY 8, 2021

This morning’s shave checked all the boxes. My regular and favorite shave soap is Mitchell’s Wool Fat hands down. My favorite shaving cream is Nancy Boy. Today’s shave featured the Dubl Duck Goldedge 11/16, the Blackland Vector, the Viking Silvertip Badger and Nancy Boy. I obtained this brush on one of the dedicated shave forums as part of a cancer research fundraising effort. As a cancer survivor, I was happy to contribute and have been very happy with its performance. It certainly didn’t disappoint this morning. The brush is both delightfully soft yet possesses tremendous backbone. It delivered the thin slick face lather and the yogurty, thick, protective lather for the dome effortlessly. These two tremendous shaving tools left me feeling clean, refreshed and velveteen smooth.

RAZOR: Dubl Duck Goldedge 11/16 (Mug), Blackland Vector (Dome)
    BLADE: Feather Super AC
PREP: Cold water rinse followed by a scrub with Argan Oil
    BRUSH: Viking Silvertip Badger
    CREAM: Nancy Boy Signature
POSTSHAVE: Cold water wash with Glyce Glycerin soap followed by Humphreys Lilac WH. Finished with Nancy Boy Signature After Shave Balm.
