    January Rule Shave # 4

Two+ passes on just shy of two days of growth this afternoon with near-BBS results. Everything fell together as it should for a boo-boo free shave, and I'm happy, smooth and smelly.

The unmarked soap container houses almost two full pucks of a legendary shaving soap that is renowned the world over. I've been using out of this container for months, and I've barely made a dent in this tallow-based, triple-milled goodness. I'm heretofore calling this my Philly Container as a tribute to @jgreenepa's glowing admiration for traditional wet shaving's most highly esteemed gift. And, yes, the soap scent is comprised of a wonderfully complex and delightful blend of notes that are beyond words. We'll therefore assemble at 1800 EST so that @Primotenore can regale us with his Operatic rendition of said notes.

    Grace and Peace.

  9. I saw your post on your recent vintage Williams/AV boxed set in the Showcase thread, Dave. Glad to see it in use. Super cool!

  10. Just a quick report on the 20s Gillette tuck away shave experience. As expected I did find it to be more aggressive than the red tip, of course it is an open comb razor for a reason. you can reallllly feel that blade. I do enjoy this razor very much! Thankfully I ended up with no cuts or irritation however I do need to be a little more careful with this razor as it definitely can have the potential to bite back. All in all I ended up with a nice BBS shave on it's first use so no complaints there. It's such a Dapper piece, that diamond shaped knurling is what drew me in very 1920s looking.

  11. Thanks Jason but that set is not even been shipped yet. Looking forward to getting it and the vintage Aqua Velva to try. :happy088:

  14. A very unique brush, Joe. I have tried a few different ways of having a wood/resin mix separated by bottom and top, often with different results. Can you tell if that piece is turned at once, or adhered to each other after separate turnings?

  20. Thanks, Dave. This one is a #175 and apparently not super common. I had no knowledge of that when I got it. Similar to a LC with a different top cap? Sign me up. The Canadian ones with tenons through mortices in the top cap have always looked pretty cool to me as well. They used Old Type parts as opposed to NEW parts.
