Thank you Clint, you do the same. Like a fool, I flipped mine after about 10 or so shaves. Not because I didn't like it...I certainly did(my above steroids comment), but I felt I wasn't making any(or much) prOHgress with reduction. I wouldn't do that again.(flip it, that is).
I'm sure you recall me saying Lee packs it right up to the top..his logic being it's a better way for us to get what we paid for.
January Focus Yardley~~The Duke~~'11 R41/Feather~~Midnight Stag It may have taken 23 shaves with the R41, but today's results were weeper-free. Vintage Yardley shave soap was the headliner for today's shave production. This old-time, no frills, triple-milled soap has not been improved upon---ever. Today's soaps may have fancy stuff like Argon oil and shea butter with a dash of unicorn tears, but, ladies and germs, as a protective barrier between skin and steel, they are not one iota better. Superlative slick 'n shiny stuff was created with the assistance of The Duke. Behold: Double lather-shot for the fans of lovely lather: Day two for the Feather blade and as expected, the smoothest shave in the life of this Japanese steel. I wasn't going to shave to allow my skin to recover a bit, but I threw caution to the wind and called a Hail Mary. Touchdown. Wonderful post-shave feel from the Yardley and I was even tempted to eschew...nyuk, nyuk, nyuk the standard Witch Hazel clean up, but decided to get all soap residue off of the skin. Once again, I used the Proraso ASB, coaxing the last droplets from the sample bottle. As my smell du jour, I chose the CFG Midnight Stag, which, BTW, is the only CFG shave product to still hold a place in Primo's shave den. I have the strange urge to change the oil in my truck...
I could not resist breaking out the potato peeler this morning and I am glad I did. The Occam's Razor V1.0 is definitely a keeper. Three smooth passes with no drama....just a razor doing what it is supposed to do. The handle is unusual to use to begin with but it all begins to fall into place with no problems. The thicker safety bar on the V1.0 is not a problem for me because of my goatee and I don't have to shave the north of my upper lip. Overall a very enjoyable razor. The potato peeler did receive a polish job last night but I left the center of the handle in its satin finish. Take care gentlemen. We are out the door to get a few projects completed at the farm. I'll catch up later on this afternoon.
I try to avoid those quick 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th................ ............... Wait make that..... I try to avoid making a second stroke in an area not relathered......especially with foam
Thanks, Joe! This is the first total wedge I’ve shaved with, and it’s quite different in process from the partial/full hollow grinds I’m used to! No buttering toast song, just silent screams of the whiskers as they’re sliced cleanly off at the skin line! I could definitely grow to like wedges! My son tells me though, that they’re a pain in the petoot to hone from bevel set to finish! I’m really glad my friend at SRP did such an excellent job on the edge!
