Razor: Valet C1 auto-strop, Canadian Variant- MFG 1920's, original gap .011" and changed it .007" to mellow it out. I really liked this change I did a couple of years ago and enjoy this shave. Todays blades are possibly sharper than yrs that have gone by?
Blade: Gem Personna SS PTFE (2)modified, excellent blade, very sharp and smooths out nicely over uses, great longevity.
Soap: Speick- mild spicy scent with great lather qualities, post shave feel average.
Brush: Yaqi Chianti's 24mm knot, excellent lather creator with heavenly like soft tips, nice back bone for a gentle scrub and great lather painter.
Pre shave: Brush wash whole face with CeraVe hand bar cleanser + a dollop of clear Aloe Vera gel on cleaned beard area.
Prep: Cold water rinse after each pass of 2 + pickups. WTG + ATG + pickups.
Post shave: Razorock American barber with witch hazel + a dollop of Nivea balm.
Results: CCS,DFS,BbS + no irritation + no weepers = [IMG] Excellent shave with my C1 Valet Auto-strop + a Gem modified coated blade.

Beautiful. Love the Gem Junior Bar Elite handle on the Damaskeene. Such a great looking combination. And that brush, wow!
And a fantastic photo to boot.

Thank you so much. The brush was my grandfather's. He handed it down to my Dad who handed it down to me. (it's obviously been re-knotted).

    Hampshire Wool fat
    Occams Oren-3dot
    Feather Proguard [ 2 ]
    Pitralon Classic A/S Lotion

I have moved on from the heavy Hiram Commander to the Oren, and had no problems adapting to the difference in size/weight. The shave went very well, and considering that it was a bit rushed the finish was rather good.

    J.A. Henckels Wedge

Aqua Velva 5 in 1 ASB

The Proraso Red Shaving Soap was applied with the Jayaruh 30RS silver tip brush. One pass and touch ups with the J.A. Henckels Rapide Lather Catcher with a J.A. Henckels Wedge blade gave me a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse I finished off with Aqua Velva 5 in 1 ASB. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...

    Razor: Star Lather Catcher
    Blade: Gem (?)
    Brush: KnotheadBrushworks "The Kentuckian"
    Soap: Lakewood SOCP (1508.5 Project)
    AS 1: Humphrey's Alcoholado Maravilla 70
    AS 2: Nivea Deep
    Fragrance: N/A

Had a good shave but the blade felt a little rough and the Humphrey's gave me a "Home Alone" feeling I haven't had in a long time. Blade got binned after the shave. I love the design and history of these old razors and this was a gift from Graydog so it's special for me. Have a great day everyone !

That's awesome. None of my family were/are wet shavers. They all use goo in a can and disposable or electric:( at least as long as I've been around.

My grandfather died before I was born, but in his time, goo in a can wasn't an option. I remember my Dad using this brush and a puck of soap (I have no idea what it was as it was too long ago), but yes, he eventually moved to cartridge razors and goo in a can. The brush remained a fixture in the bathroom for a long time. Just sitting, bristles down, in an Old Spice mug. He gave it to me because he knew I appreciated "old stuff". Years later, I had it restored and re-knotted and began using it. After it was restored, Dad marveled at well it cleaned up, and he commented on the extra weight. He died a few years ago.
