2021-01-24, Sunday A wonderful insomnia allowed me to take a virtual tour of the Villa Borghese Museum again: nice, but watching those masterpieces in real life is something else! No noisy people to spoil the experience, though… When I got up there was a pleasant mist that led me to choose the Dutch soap: my gears don't change much, but they assure me reasonably certain results. And today was no exception... Lather Catcher Sunday's Shave Cold Water Rinse Proraso Red Shaving Soap Jayaruh 30RS J.A. Henckels Rapide J.A. Henckels Wedge CWR Aqua Velva 5 in 1 ASB The Proraso Red Shaving Soap was applied with the Jayaruh 30RS silver tip brush. One pass and touch ups with the J.A. Henckels Rapide Lather Catcher with a J.A. Henckels Wedge blade gave me a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse I finished off with Aqua Velva 5 in 1 ASB. Friday January 24, 2021 Razor: Star Lather Catcher Blade: Gem (?) Brush: Knothead Brushworks "The Kentuckian" Soap: Lakewood SOCP (1508.5 Project) AS 1: Humphrey's Alcoholado Maravilla 70 AS 2: Nivea Deep Fragrance: N/A Had a good shave but the blade felt a little rough and the Humphrey's gave me a "Home Alone" feeling I haven't had in a long time. Blade got binned after the shave. I love the design and history of these old razors and this was a gift from Graydog so it's special for me. Have a great day everyone !

Sunday morning’s Grand Freeze: L’Oreal Men Expert Facial Wash Razorock Plissoft 26mm Monster Super Speed/Astra Green day 14 Synergy Frost Byte SS Prep ASB Fine Snake Bite AS Splash Bleu de Chanel EdP About six or seven years ago I bought this Synergy Frost Byte soap and at the beginning I was really excited about it but to be honest now I can’t stand it. Yes, the lather is fantastic and very easy to work up, it’s got a boatload of frigid menthol in it but the scent is so artificial - it’s eucalyptus and peppermint in a lousy way, and the skincare is awful - hell, my face felt irritated and dry after my shave, but the Prep took care of that right away, and the Snake Bite aftershave added its own special heavy duty menthol punch. The Astra Green blade was tugging quite a bit but I still managed to get a terrific shave! Have a great Sunday - be well and safe! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Sunday: hot shower with River Soap Co Vetiver bar soap Truefitt & Hill PSO Gillette RedTip 3 passes Derby Premium (1) MdC Vetyver soap in a warm bowl Omega boar Thayers unscented WH Fine Green Vetiver A/S Crusellas Vetiver EdC Second time with this new Omega brush after gagging through the first use a few days ago. This brush is(was) the stinkiest brush I have ever purchased. I normally just start using a new boar brush and have never had more than a mild stench to endure. This one got thoroughly defunked after my first time using it was nearly unbearable.
I've had some beautiful shaves this month, with a lot of products to review and test out. The highlights of the month were definitely testing out the Yaqi Sagrada familia, and getting my first adjustable, a 1965 slim adjustable. After one use I can already say that the slim is my new favourite razor, there's something absolutely beautiful about being able to change the feel of the shave at the twist of a knob. This month's first shaves were with the bundubeard "mystery soap", and it's an absolutely fantastic soap. The full review on that will be coming out in the next week or so, but it's definitely a keeper. It was also fantastic to be able to test out Yaqi South Africa's new glacial slickness cream (the prototype, the final product differs to the best of my knowledge).
