This is where the NB '21 just might kick my butt.....wanted to use one of my absolute favorite fragrances, Gondolier from PAA. It's
awesome to my nose, an absolute top fragrance compared to
any in my little fiefdom of aroma choices. Unfortunately, the soap is nearing 1/3 left, and barely half for the aftershave & cologne bottle. Have to use it sparingly for the remainder of '21.
Here's PAA's scent description: Experience the classic, masculine, old world scent of Italy with every spritz! Gondolier is a rich, balanced bouquet of Bergamot, Rose, Jasmine, Oakmoss, Coumarin, Citronella, Juniper & Cedar.
Wanted a quick easy quick shave mid morning today, using a near mindless open edge tool. Can't explain it, but skin feel and shave closeness seems unmatched (particularly a few hours after shaving) when I shave with an open edge compared to DE safety razors. Some SE razors get close to matching the open edge face feel for me....a Blackland Vector, for instance, which uses the same blade. This 2 band badger knot from The Golden Nib is a great latherer....loaded in the PAA tub until the soap hit the base of the knot, and moved to my bowl for building the CK6 formula lather. Goopy, almost stringy concoction turns into creamy rim overflowing lather goodness with a little added hydration, face feel next to perfection when mixed with painting and lather building swirls. Two passes today, WTG, XTG (near ATG) with zero crimson issues or irritation. Squirt of PAA's Star Jelly, and then a smathering of the matching aftershave & cologne (it lasts 6+ hours easily), and ready for a lazy Sunday.
Question on the NB '21 rules.....does replating a razor count against? My recently acquired Barbasol Floating Head, while perfectly functional, could use a replate as the top plate has the tinge of brass showing through the top plating after I tried to buff out some of the micro scratches. My OCD on this imperfection is itching. Also....what about working on restoring a straight razor I already own? I have a Wade and Butcher 7/8 Celebrated that I was thinking of killing some time with. To be clear, it's me doing the work, not something I'd have to send out like the Barbasol FH.
Hope everyone has a Great Day!
