First full Str8 shave after shaving off the beard. The only thing that I really lost is how refreshing the cold water rinse was. Modern Thiers Issard 6/8 provided a smooth effortless shave.
F. Herder 76 Suds: Zingari Man The Watchman Splash: PAA Good Vibrations This soap was the star of the show for me. Described as a dark aquatic... yeah, I can see that description, just not sure how you get there. Enjoy your shave. Tom
Another shave with the Luckhaus & Gūnther. Cella shaving soap Ds Cosmetics boar Myrsol plastic as I think I will use this razor for the next week too. Next weekend I'll hone a different razor.
6/8 CVH - one is stamped No 130 and the other ‘KEN’ though they are obviously the same razor. They’re post-war razors bought in a lot from Japan and are not that well made, unlike the 7/8+ No 140 that I bought the lot for, which is very well made. The KEN is overground at the heel and the stabilizer on both came all the way down to the edge and required relieving with careful work on a diamond plate. But once the work was done and the bevels set, they’re the same fine CVH steel that we all know and love. Cream was Simpsons lavender-vetiver lathered with the ‘hippie’ brush, and a splash of SMN lavanda finished off a great Sunday morning shave.

6/8 Tranchant Beajeu Aine. I just finished cleaning and polishing and honing this razor a few days ago. As I said in the What Razor have you honed lately thread, there was more pitting than I like. If anyone has a suggestion on how to better remove the surface pitting and give her a better polish I would appreciate the info. I was looking forward to seeing how she shaved. I've read many articles on straight razor performance as well as posts on this sight discussing the razor "gliding" through the whiskers. Well, today I discovered what that truly means. The razor actually performed so smoothly I could barely feel the whiskers being cut. The blade slid through the shaving soap and left NOTHING in its wake. I honestly have never experienced a more comfortable shave. I think I may have found my perfect razor. That's how satisfied I am with her performance. Now to find a way to make her look better??
L. Sommer “Rondinella” 49 Suds: Zingari Man The Watchman Splash: PAA Good Vibrations The Rondinella mark changed hands from Sommer to Koniger in the late 30’s, so a beautiful 80+ year time capsule with this one. Enjoy your shave. Tom
