Welcome to February's edition of the 30 Day Rule/Focus Picture and Discussion Thread. (Phew, that's a mouthful!) What are some of the things we can look forward to in February? Groundhog's Day Washington's Birthday Valentine's Day Lincoln's Birthday The Super Bowl Sure, these things are all really cool and I am sure we are all waiting with bated breath for them to arrive, but..... How about 28 great shaves? How about 28 shaves using the same gear? How about 28 shaves using one particular piece of shaving gear for every shave? Isn't that really why we are here? To master that new R102, right @Trigger ? (edited, just before going to print) To try out those 28 new soaps and razors and brushes that are coming this month, right @clint64 ? To finally come clean and admit to loving the scent of Tabac, right @jgreenepa ? To NOT purchase a single shaving-related item---this month--- or for the next 11 months, right @Paul Turner ? To turn some beautiful handles, @jtspartan and @MrEE ? I tease, but this thread is blessed with a bountiful amount of fine, funny, generous and all-around good people. I missed mentioning most of you, I'll put that on my "honey-do" list for the months to come... I am going to mos def© do a soap focus, indeed a soap 3017 But let's get down to brass tacks, shall we? What is the 30 Day Rule? Take ONE razor, ONE blade, ONE brush, ONE soap/cream and use them EVERYDAY of the month. to @Edison Carter for completing (almost...that darn convex stone ) his 30 Day Rule. What is the 30 Day Focus? Vary the gear for each shave, save, for perhaps, one or two elements. A few of were quite successful with their 30 Day Focus. Or, just have great shaves and support the rest of the members, as they learn to use new gear. A...Gillette Red Tip, for example... There are a few rules and here they are: 1. New Members always welcome. Start anytime. 2. Old Members always welcome. 3. Respect everyone. 4. Refrain from political conversation. Let's get out there and win not just one, but 28 for the Gipper, shall we? Hope everyone has a terrific month; full of health, happiness and BBS shaves. By the way: Introducing our new 30 Day Rule/Focus Motto: "To Shave, Share, Support and Educate"©
I do too but Joseph is a little sketchy on the "Support" part beings he's a Butcher of Black Hog Hair
Nice message as always, @Primotenore . That's right...for me(and others doing NB '21)1 month down, 11 to go. Or, for a lowest common denominator-actually there IS none. . In this month, more practice at "negotiatin" that Red Tip 1957 razor from Gillette. I hope to keep crankin' up those Outta This World Excellent shaves. And as always the good-natured communication with everyone here. Here's to another month of "negotiatin', crankin'(up)and communicatin'(as always)with our friendly and fun group. Let's have more great shaves, fellas!! .
I want to thank you, Mr. Cawtuh, and others who have shown me great...well....that 3rd from the top persuasion, as I work with my Gillette 1957 Red Tip. SUPPORT, that's it. .
Count me in for February. @Primotenore is correct, I do have some new stuff inbound. The main goal is to finish up some software. I need to pick out some good targets for finishing up.
I’m also looking forward to February as well! I turn 74 early in the month, and am eagerly awaiting the arrival of my new relatively rare 8/8 stubtail currently residing at the razor beauty spa in Sandpoint, ID. I’ll continue shaving with whatever strikes my fancy each day, but will trudge on with the A&E Shaving Butter. I'm developing a real affection for the stuff. I need to travel to TN this next weekend to help my bride settle the estate of her stepfather who passed away this last Tuesday. My shave kit for the trip is as yet undetermined, but I’m considering taking 7 straights and my Supply V2 safety razor for all my shaves. Should be interesting. And no, Joseph, I don’t ever anticipate using Tabac as I gave away my tub to my grandson.
Monday February 1, 2021 Razor: Lupo .72 Blade: Wizamet (2) Brush: Grizzly Bay/Oumo SHD Soap: Lakewood SOCP (1508.5 Project) AS 1: Humphrey's Alcoholado Maravilla 70 AS 2: Clubman Citrus Musk Fragrance: Spicebomb Back to the Soap Project which is just about doughnut holed so the end is in site. 1st use of the .72 SB Lupo and it reminds me of the DLC Lupo but I like the looks better. I think I prefer the .95 but am on the fence until I compare them more closely. I know the Spicebomb doesn't really match up with the Citrus Musk but it overtakes it just right with the lime musk peaking sporadically and I LOVE this peppery/spicy scent any time of year. Hope Fluffy is safe while out plowing the enemy attacking his domain. Have a great day everyone !!!
February 1, 2021 Tatara Masamune Feather Tatara/Semogue Boar AOS Lavender Shave Cream Fine Lavender Pour Homme Aftershave Happy Monday. I decided to follow along with @Primotenore and finish my AOS Lavender Cream. With any luck I will finish it this month if I use it 5-6 times a week. I will be using the Tatara Masamune SB for the next couple days. The razor is "mild" but very efficient when I do my part maintaining the angle. Three passes and touch ups ended in a drama free BBS shave. I couldn't ask for a better way to start the month. I hope everyone has a great Monday.
That cream is on deck after my sandalwood. I am, however, going to wait until springtime to titanic it. Too many commas
