Awesome shave this morning. This will mainly be my set up for this week long focus. I will be changing the brush and juice up but everything else will remain the same.

The Razorock 400 whipped up some very nice and slick Tabac this morning. I added a little more water and made the lather thinner due to suggestions for the straight blade.

I did complete one full shave with the Parker SRX and two on the cheeks with the SRX. It was a little awkward but it is getting there. I did not want to push my luck so I grabbed the Above the Tie Atlas with the R1 plate to finish things up. The alum was a little warm in a few places but I'll take that with no weepers or cuts.

Finished it off with some American Tobacco by Andy Hilfiger.

I’m in for February, of course. I usually like to do a bit of Favourites February, but a lot of the razor play will involve my new razor which is scheduled to arrive today. For software, I’ll still use the Reserve Cool every 2nd day until it is done, but I’m going to pick 4 nice combos that for whatever reason haven’t seen a lot of usage lately. This Platinum combo, Colonia, the Jeeves BoS and Baker Street, methinks.
Pulled the Occam’s for no other reason than it is awesome. The full scalloped plate is my fave, but all are good. Whipped up an exceptional lather and had 3 easy passes. Didn’t know what blade was in there until I was finished, which was different for me. Almost completely smooth and not complaining about the difference. Not smelling too badly, either.

Lather today is brought to you by the Simpson 57. One of only 30 made way back when.
(Back when Simpson could still make a beautiful brush...that's when)

Having shaved with my 2011 R41 for the entire month of January, I was pleased as punch to use this straight.
The Gustave Lalune got a nice and easy stropping. That was fun.
The first pass, with skin-stretching was buttery. I focussed on "wiping away" the lather.
Used both hands, muscle-memory took over.
Performed three subsequent passes, XTG and ATG, and a repeat, à la @Keithmax WTG pass.
Speaking of Keith, haven't heard from him lately. Hope all is well in S. Korea.
No weepers, no cuts, nada.
I'll say it again, a 2011 R41 is MORE aggressive than a straight.
That's my opinion and I am sticking to it.
De-soaped my skin with a double-washing of Witch Hazel, followed by a soothing application
of the Proraso ASB.
Today's scent is a clone, replete with synthetic and chemical Oud.
Oh, but is it ever lovely...and manly. Milton-Lloyd Mojo.

Since the start of the new year, I have been using the following set up:

I have only been shaving twice per week, but I'm going to increase that to 3 times per week. Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday.

I must say - the shave quality that this razor and software combo produces is the best of my wet-shaving career to date. Really first rate!

Today I pulled out the razor that launched me on my straight razor journey six years ago. That fateful morning I ended up slicing through my cheek and discovering my Parkinson’s. After the accident the razor sat in my den drawer for 5 years, until I discovered my current workaround using 3lb ankle weights on my forearms about a year ago, and have been happily straight-shaving my mug daily ever since. The Dovo Special was my first straight razor. It’s an excellent razor, and with my tremor mgmt technique one of my favorites. The dome shave featured the Barbasol Floating Head, a highly efficient head shaver. I feel refreshed, clean, and velveteen smooth.

RAZOR: Dovo Special 5/8 (Mug), Barbasol Floating Head (Dome)
BLADE: Feather DE
PREP: Cold water rinse followed by a scrub with Argan Oil
BRUSH: Rearden Razor 316L SS Tuxedo Synth
CREAM/CROAP: A&E Shaving Butter
POSTSHAVE: Cold water wash with brush squeezings followed by a rinse with Humphreys Lilac WH. Finished with A&E Post-Shave Serum.

Back to the Soap Project which is just about doughnut holed so the end is in site. 1st use of the .72 SB Lupo and it reminds me of the DLC Lupo but I like the looks better. I think I prefer the .95 but am on the fence until I compare them more closely. I know the Spicebomb doesn't really match up with the Citrus Musk but it overtakes it just right with the lime musk peaking sporadically and I LOVE this peppery/spicy scent any time of year. Hope Fluffy is safe while out plowing the enemy attacking his domain. Have a great day everyone !!!
