Keep or sell last TTO?

  1. Shaved with a TTO for the first time in a long time this morning and the geometry of the head reminded me why I'm down to one TTO razor (gold slim) and also why I use it so infrequently. It's a beautiful razor and paired with the right blades I can get outstanding shaves. However, when it comes to DEs I just seem to prefer the head geometry of a three piece (old, new, hell even a tech).
I'm now contemplating letting it go to someone who will use/appreciate it more....and yet....

So I reach out for the opinion of my fellow denizens. Should I keep it because it is a great razor for which I may rekindle my appreciation or should I sell it?

    * Please note this is not a for sale thread in any way so please do not message me asking for pics or making offers or anything of that nature. This is just a quandary with which I am currently struggling.

  2. i sold my slim and fatboy because i rarely if ever used them.if it holds little sentimental value i would pass it along..but my thoughts may be biased as i still like my rockets and aristocrats etc..;)

  4. Keep it.
Gold Slims aren’t that easy to come by, it’s a great razor, and your preferences could potentially change ( maybe not, but they could).
If you had several, then sell; but only one, I say keep.

  5. Sell If you are not a collector, why keep a tool you will not use.

  7. I use the 10 second rule. If I can't come up with a reason other than because I can why I should keep it in 10 seconds or less then it is not that important to keep.
  8. That razor goes anywhere from $60ish to $125 depending if you have the case, condition, right buyer, etc. A nickel plated Gillette Slim you can still get in the $20 dollar range or less and find one at any time you want. Unless it is some sort of sentimental or emotional reason for keeping it, I'd sell it since I could replace it easily and quickly.

Thank you you're very kind of audience. I'll be here all week .

  11. Hold on to it. It is a good shaver that isn't costing you anything and takes up very little room. Use it every once in a while when you want a change. I am not a huge tto fan, but have repurchased a red tip twice after selling my previous razors.

  13. Follow up on my silly post. I still say sell it. I have never developed an emotional attachment to anything in my shave den...nor should anyone. It's just a thing. Plenty of other "things" out there.
    Hasta la vista, baby.

  14. Thanks to all for your input thus far. Most of you have made important points (except for a certain penguin :p who verified people got the reference in the title). I'm still vacillating but now leaning towards keeping it as, has been mentioned, it takes up little space.

Glad you clarified as your previous post was cryptic....:D

    Continued points/arguments/opinions welcome.

  15. Ah, ambivalence. If its your one and only, keep it. A change is nice once in awhile, and it is painful to seek a replacement that, "isn't quite..."

I'm in the work of selling off the greater part of a sizeable collection, and I do understand.

  16. I say keep it; the gold Slims are getting hard to come across at a reasonable price. Also if it’s giving you good shaves you should keep it; nothing worse than having sellers remorse.

  17. There was a reason why you bought it in the first place. Why risk regret? Keep it!
